WHY??: Why would anyone wish to have major surgery of this type (if it could even be done) because of a cosmetic issue? It would be much healthier to teach the child to be happy with herself, and appreciate her own body. Help her learn to love herself, just as she is, instead of focusing on any "imperfections".

No surgery: Any surgery may have a complications /side effects. To  make legs longer require very complicated intervention with installment metallic device what have to stay for months and restrict your usual activity during and after intervention. This create another set of complications. Please, accept your hight and enjoy life without any complications/ side effects.

Dont think so.: It is a physical impossibility that your leg actually became longer after your surgery for a torn meniscus. Perhaps you were walking with a bent knee prior to surgery, and after surgery you normalized your gait and felt as though there was an increase in length.

It depends: It depends on previous surgery, any bowel or bladder issues, and amount of pain.  For you, an orthopedic surgeon would be the next best visit.

Can be: While i wouldn't call it normal, leg lengthening is a potential result of total hip replacement and can be no big deal or a significant disability.  Leg lengthening has become less common with newer implants and surgical techniques.  Significant lengthening can be balanced with a heel lift in the other shoe.

No: There will never be a surgery to lengthen a normal torso, but we know the rule is, "Never say never."  It's unlikely that there will be a procedure to make a normal person's torso longer, but for older people with damaged intervertebral discs or with collapsing vertebrae, we hope for better and better technology to fix those problems and prevent those patient's heights from decreasing.

Graduated program: I think a good way to regain your ability to walk again is get up on crutches and put 25% of your weight on your leg for a week, 50% for the next week, then 75% the third week and finally 100% the fourth week. This regimen will get you the ability to get back on your feet in a month.

Need to recover: Part of the anser depends on how well you played soccer to begin with.  With any surgery involving the bones there is a period of recovery that has to take place, and if your legs were made significantly longer, you probably need some therapy to adjust to your new gait.  Try to give yourself some time, and ask your doctor what he expects your recovery to be.

I : I find that the recovery from thigh lift surgery can be quite prolonged.  You will have some difficulty sitting and walking initially.  It is a longer recovery and usually more difficult than arm lift surgery.  I would estimate that the typical recovery time for general activity is 2-3 weeks and for return to exercise is 6-8 weeks.  You could certainly begin to use some arm weights sooner than that.
