Shortness of breath:  COVID 19  is a possibility. Suspicion for COVID 19 is higher if you have at least 2 of these symptoms:  temp of at least 99.6, Cough, Shortness of breath, Chills, Shivering, Muscle pain, Headache, Sore throat or new loss of taste or smell.

what is a main cause of shortness of breath or trying to fully inhale and being unable to? this doesn't happen with every breath, and its not gasping.

Breathing problem: Symptoms could be first manifestation of serious heart or lung disease, so please have your doctor check you out.

Panic attack?: I would say get yourself a thorough physical to rule out any physical cause(s) for these symptoms and any others. If nothing is found, then get yourself an evaluation by a psychiatrist for anxiety/panic disorder, and seek psychotherapy.

: Among others, reactive airway disease, such as asthma, possibly exercise induced on description versus musculoskeletal causes appear as likely. Definitely worth checking in with your doc in order to clarify and have your symptoms addressed properly.

did pft study dr said i dont have asthma showed no obstruction but when i did inhaler treatment (ibuteral) breathing in pft got better been havin shortness of breath for 10 mths inhaler dont help me .dr said no asthma ekg stress test normal advice?

: Review  PFTs w/   doctor.  In asthma  FEV1 is less than 80%  but  I have seen people w/ SOB w/FEV1 of 90% - with inhaler they improve. Also  I have found that FEF 25-75 , though a derived value, may also define a subset of individuals who have reactive airways  if  less than 90.

inhaled bleach three days ago. immediately went outside got a fresh air and then took a shower and then stood outside catching my breath. only had the side effects of lightheadedness and shortness of breath should i be concerned?

No concern: My statements made with the assumption that this was an accidental inhalation in a closed space one time.  Therefore, the symptoms you had should have abated now,,without any longer lasting effects. Remember to be in a ventilated space when you pour large amounts of bleach or chlorine and other aromatic chemicals.

Unlikely copd: COPD is chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and usually the problem occurs from combinations of recurrent infection, asthma, and/or chronic smoking, and there is difficulty in breathing OUT.   If you find it hard to breathe in and feel like you have to take frequent deep breaths, you may have hyperventilation problems which are more likely related to panic or anxiety.  Get checked and get help.

son visited pediatrician for shortness of breath during athletic activity. no tests/xrays done..just inhaler. still worried. should i get 2nd opinion?

Common issue &amp; rx: Exercise triggered shortness of breath (bronchospasm) is a rather common finding in teens &amp; pre-teens.They may or may not have ever had similar asthma like problems with other triggers. It is routine to give a kid an inhaler (&amp; proper instruction on use) to see if this helps. You could spend time with a pulmonologist if you could find one that treats kids &amp; have expensive lung tests.You decide.

i'm having shortness of breath/ tightening in my chest. my inhaler isn't working as much . i cough up mucus with black streaks. cough when can't breat?

Mgt: If your inhaler is not as effective in controlling the cough, your respiratory plan needs to be adjusted. The black streaks may be dried blood or tar. If you are smoking, avoid all smoke exposure, including second hand smoke.
I would suggest a follow up with your PCP.
