: You should be seen in an emergency room if you are having severe abdominal pain that is getting worse. This could be appendicitis or some other acute abdominal process. You will likely need a CT scan of your abdomen to make a diagnosis and then get treatment. Good luck!

i had the stomach flu a couple days ago. since yesterday, i've been having chest pains (under the sternum, you could say) &on the right sight. anyhelp?

Stomach flu: Sounds like gastritis or esophagitis especially if you have been vomiting with this stomach flu. Could be pleurisy if associated with a cough. I would continue supportive care such as increasing fluids and taking NSAIDs like Advil or tylenol (acetaminophen) for Pain and see if it helps.  If not I would follow up with your physician

Hiatal hermia: Stranger things have happened. But i guess it could develop if you were coughing so hard. Usually it is a chronic problem that is associated with reflux and if breathing problems occur that means it is very big and needs surgery to be fixed.

Urine infection: You should consider urinary tract infection as a possibility (pyelonephritis). Urinalysis could be very useful.

Gastroenteritis: Start with clear liquid like water, soda that is clear, or sports hydration drinks. Sip, sip, sip. Work up to solids with bland foods like bananas, rice, applesauce, toast, gelatin, or chicken. Avoid alcohol, nicotine, caffeine, dairy ; high fat foods. Rest.

Not the flu : Influenza doesn't cause gastrointestinal symptoms in adults. Other viruses, tho,  can cause gastroenteritis. It's possible you may have contracted a new viral infection. It's also possible your recent symptoms are due to some other medical condition. See your physician if your symptoms continue
