i had sharp pain in lower left stomach for 4 months  doc put me on mtetronidzole and levofloxacin  pain went away quick but in concerned is this colon cancer or something else?

Diverticulitis: Probably an infection of the colon but when things get better you will need a colonoscopy.

Anal fissure?: At age 22 year old, colon cancer would not be the most likely reason for anal bleeding.  If it felt like your anus was  being cutting with glass you could have an anal fissure.  Hemorrhoid is also possible. The only way to know for sure is to be medically evaluated. Take care.

Could be: Hundreds of conditions can cause stomach aches.  Colon cancer is one of those conditions which can cause abdominal pain.  See your doctor for a thorough evaluation.

Get some answers.: My questions: at what age have family members had colon cancer? How many relatives are we talking about. If you have a condition called "familial polyposis, " you may already have spoken with a gastroenterologist. If there's a history of colon cancer in anyone in their 30's, it might be reasonable to have a colonoscopy. The point is, why worry? Go see your doctor; get a referral to a GI specialist.

A : A good rule of thumb when seeing a doctor about a multitude of symptoms is to try and rank the problems starting with the most bothersome or concerning first.  And write them down, so you don't forget!  this will help to make sure the doctor addresses the most concerning problems during the appointment time and will help him/her understand where to concentrate their thoughts, exam, testing and treatment.  Sometimes when patients come in with a disorganized list of symptoms or issues, the doctor may spend all of the appointment time focusing on a problem that was not even what brought the patient into the office in the first place!  it is also important that the doctor have your friend's past records and testing so nothing is needlessly repeated.  Hopefully, these bits of information will help your friend and their doctor have a very beneficial visit.

It's possible: There are no early signs of colorectal cancer - which is why screening is so important.  Signs of gastrointestinal bleeding and crampy abdominal pain can be signs of colorectal cancer.  They can also be signs of menstrual cramps, irritable bowel syndrome and many other minor problems.  It is unlikely that the cramps are a sign of colorectal cancer, but you should have them investigated!

Not likely: It is very unlikely that you have colon cancer, however, persistently swollen lymph nodes are a cause for concern and you should consult your doctor for a work-up and explanation for the symptoms.

6 months: At least 6 months will allow the reaction in the abdominal cavity to diminish to safely reconnect the intestinal tract.

No: In general, no, cancer itself does not cause pain. But if cancer spreads to other organs, spreads to bones, or causes intestinal blockage or obstruction, then pain at those various sites can then occur. That would be a sign of advanced metastatic cancer.
