Pain: when pain described as shock like or burn we generally think of nerve pain or nerve entrapment as cause.  Especially without trauma and when occurs with rest or activity.  Check with a doctor with an exam.

Sounds like a tailor: bunion. It is caused by improper footwear. It is at the base of the little toe. Usually we see this in people with a"splay foot". This means when your foot hits the ground the forefoot widens. Have 2 look for this barefooted. If dress shoes &amp; heelx make it more sore that is most likely the problem.

SHOES!!!!!: Consider your SHOES...especially what they may be doing to your feet at the TOES. ( THE most common complaint of women who wear "high end fashionable" footwear!

Bunionette: Sounds like you have a prominent distal end  of your 5 th metatarsal . This could be a " bunionette" . If it is painful or bothers u w/ shoe wear see an ors who has specialty training in foot and ankle surgery. Sometime pads and shoe modifications will be all that u need. Occasionally surgery will be required if no improvement  w/ above. Good luck!

Trauma?: It could be many things. Burning usually signifies a nerve issue and the outside of your foot is L5 which originates in your lower back. So if it's not trauma or infection it may be an issue with your lower back.

Comments: You describe location of sural nerve, but lateral plantar branch of posterior tibial nerve may overlap territory.  An EMG study should clarify issues, and a foot specialist can assist in reversal of your problems.

: I assume there has been no injury. You may have plantar fasciitis which causes severe heel tenderness. I recommend taking an anti-inflammatory medication like ibuprofen or naproxen, elevation of your leg &amp; keeping pressure of the heel, applying ice.  and getting examined by your physician or a podiatrist.

X-rays: Seeing a doctor and getting x-rays will tell you if you fractured the toe or not. If you have swelling, bruising and pain of the little toe and movement is reduced or the toe appears out of alignment, it may indicate it is broken. X-rays will make the diagnosis.
