Costrochondritis: Generally chest pain when sleeping on the side is musculoskeletal in origin and does not signify heart disease. The only worrisome problem could be reflux, which may be causing pain in your espohagus when you lie on your side.

Chest pain: At 19 sharp chest pain likely related to some type of pleurisy or chest wall pain.  GERD another possibility.  although less likely a more serious cause would be PE.
Usually at your age a bop and smoking would need to be involved. cardiac can be cause, but usually associated with drug use at your age.

Variable: Sharp chest discomfort, especially if only lasting a few seconds, is usually benign and most likely musculoskeletal in origin.  Much depends on where it's located, what precipitates it, what symptoms are associated with it, and what relieves it.  Simple rest and, if recurrent, antiinflammatories or analgesics may be useful, but if persistent, evaluation by your doctor is prudent.

Rule out heart: Unclear about risk factors for heart disease such as smoking, age, cholesterol, diabetes but always want to rule out cardiac issues first. Also, how long it lasts is important, as well and what causes the pain.  But assuming it is not cardiac, it could be from acid reflux (heartburn), esophageal spasm ("charley horse"), pulmonary (lungs) or chest muscles. Worth getting it checked by a doctor.

Constant pain: The only cause of constant, or nearly constant pain is rheumatologic or neuritic: joints, muscles, tendons, ligaments, bursae, fasciae ,or nerves. Your observation indicates it does not involve your accessory muscles of respiration but it could be referred from your shoulder or be due to a pinched nerve from your cervical (neck) spine. Trial of an NSAID is in order. No relief suggests nerve.

Sounds like pleurisy: Pleurisy is inflammation of lining around the lungs and can be very painful. If bringing up colored phlegm or if fever, could be pneumonia.  Other concern is for a collapsed lung, called a pneumothorax. Best way to tell is see a dr for complete physical and chest xray.

Chest pain : Chest pain has many concerning diagnoses and many that are not that concerning. How do we decide what is concerning and what is not concerning?   We ask questions, do an examination, then we may do testing. Th" which are are some red flag concerning symptoms _meaning investigate for a dangerous clinical situation. One of them is chest tearing. So, with such a complaint a good evaluation is needed.
