i am suffering from constipation since one year stool exits one in a week and the shape of stool is sauge,lumpy and craks on surface?

Constipation: If you have the urge to move your bowels and can't, work from below using rectal glycerin or dulcolax suppositories. A fleets enema can be used. If you have no urges, drink adequate fluids, eat a lot of fiber and exercise. Taking a daily bowel stimulant like SenokotS which also has a stool softener helps. A gastroenterologist can advise you as needed.

No: Although the prostate sits between the bladder and rectum, it's pretty tough to see how stool shape would be influenced. If your stool is consistently a different shape, see your doctor for an evaluation.

Accepted Answer

It depends, see belo: If this is a new change in the stool shape, it may just be an enlarged hemorrhoid.  If you  have had babies, it could be scarring of your anal canal.
An examination needs to be done by your doctor to really be able to tell what the problem is.  Please make an appointment soon if it persists or increases or bleeding or pain occurs in/with the stool.

Can happen: This can happen. Usually due to changes in diet.  If you are consistently taking a fiber supplement, then less likely.  You should consider regular fiber in the diet and more water intake.
It's best to discuss significant changes with your physician.  May want to consider colonoscopy if you are adult age.

: Stools come in a variety of colors and consistencies depending on the diet and hydration status.  If stools are passed easily, painlessly and generally are not red or black, this is likely normal.  You might try increasing dietary fiber and drinking adequate fluid - 6-8 cups / day of water.

Stool shape: There are many variables which can affect the size and shape of stool, including the diet, state of physical hydration or dehydration, associated bowel health or disease, and many others. COnsideration for colonoscopy is made when there are concerns of underlying bowel diseases or tumors. A screening colonoscopy would be indicated if these are discovered by history or on exam

Yes: The size and shape of your stool is determined by how long the stool is in your rectum, and the tightness of your anal muscles.  Long duration in the rectum = larger, harder stools.  Tight anal muscles will make stool 'squeeze out' -- like out of a toothpaste container.
You can stop these swings by getting more fiber (roughage) in your diet or taking benefiber; make sure to get enough water also!

i have almond shapes in stool a lot i have ate nothing in three days still these show up not on medication what can it be?

Several issues....: First, I'm not clear if you have things that are shaped like almonds embedded in your stool, or if your stool itself is almond-shaped. Second, it is also not clear why you have not eaten anything for three days, but that is a major red flag. Food is essential for survival, and you shouldn't be fasting for 3 days at a time. Finally, you really need to see a primary care doc or GI specialist ASAP.

Usually not serious: It is most likely from bowel spasm (spastic colon or irritable bowel syndrome) in someone your age. I suggest a high fiber diet and a supplement like Metamucil or Citrucel daily, and perhaps a probiotic as well. If symptoms persist should get it checked out.
