Yes: Many patients that suffer from gerd are treated with acid reducers, like protonix (pantoprazole).  If you are post-sleeve and/or cholecystectomy, you may very well be refluxing, bile, which is a base. A good treatment for this is Gaviscon or maalox.  Try taking before meals and at bedtime. Increasing the Protonix (pantoprazole) doesn&#x27;t make sense because your stomach makes much less to little acid after sleeve resection.

Bottom line - yes: The bariatric surgeon may have to modify his technique a bit, but you should be able to get a good sleeve made that should help you in your efforts to lose weight.  Good luck and you will be so much better as you lose excess weight!

Yes it is possible: A bariatric surgeon can help with this issue. Much depends on your current bmi (body mass index) and whether the fundoplication is still working well. The options range from just adding a gastric sleeve to the intact fundoplication (easiest if your bmi is around 40) to taking the old repair down and doing a gastric bypass (if your bmi is &gt;45).

Careful chewing: After having esophageal or gastric surgery it is always important to fully chew your food.  Gas from seafood sounds rare.  You would not expect GERD from air being trapped.  However if you ate quickly and swallowed a lot of air you might feel the pain as you noted.

:  The gastric sleeve procedure involves reducing the size of the stomach to limit food intake, which can lead to acid reflux and heartburn. Additionally, the gastric leak treatment may have caused scarring or inflammation in the digestive tract, which can also contribute to heartburn symptoms.Spicy and acidic foods and ;large meals are known triggers for acid reflux and heartburn.

See a surgeon: After gastric sleeve surgery or other stomach or bariatric surgeries you still can develop stomach problem such as ulcers and gastritis. These should be evaluated by preferably your bariatric surgeon with a history, exam, and testing including possibly labs, an upper GI xray, and endoscopy, depending on the situation.

Depends..: What you can eat depends on how far out from surgery you are.. Every surgeon has a different protocol for advancing diet after surgery. However, once you are several months since surgery you can eat pretty much whatever you want. Just a lot less of it.
