One week: Bowel movement can be very variable. Usually it is still consider as normal when it is down to once a week.
Stool softeners are very helpful to regulate bowel movement as well as diet rich in fibers.
In old people, fecaloma (stool impaction in the distal large bowel) may require evacuation.

Unusual: Constipation would be an unusual symptom in intestinal parasite infection.  Diarrhea is much more common.  But the parasites do affect movement/motility of the bowel, so constipation could be part of the cycle. If you haven't done so already, contact your doctor/health department to submit stool samples to check for all intestinal pathogens. That said, the constipation may well be irritable bowel.

All: Above meds can cause constipation as side effect and aside from the possibility of the condition being treated that through lack of physical activity may cause constipation. Reversing constipation and focusing on having regular bowel movements becomes critical now. Let your treating doc know.

Black stool: Is occasionally worrisome for upper GI bleeding. However, that kind of black stool is liquidy or tarry. I would treat your constipation by taking more stone fruits in your diet and using maintenance daily dosing of PEG 3350.

Constipation: Switching to protonix instead of nexium (esomeprazole) may stimulate your bowels. Taking zantac at the same time is unnecessary. To promote bowel movements drink adequate fluids including hot water((not too hot), include fiber in your diet and try a daily dose of senokot as a stimulant. A gastroenterologist is best qualified to evaluate and treat you.

Hypothyroid sx: Is that a Free T4?  A FT4 of 1.24 would be normal in most assays, as would a TSH of 1.15.  If these tests are indeed normal, then your symptoms are not from hypothyroidism, which is too bad, since thyroid would be easy to treat.  Best to talk to your doctor about what else this can be.

Unlikely: Severe constipation leading to obstruction in the large bowel can lead to death but this is unlikely in a healthy young adult.  You are more likely to suffer from abdominal pain or hemorrhoids.

condition presenting as constipation e.G of condition : thyroid disease, irritable bowel, celiac disease.

See physician: If you are suffering from severe constipation and so far nothing has helped, please see your physician about it.He may need to run some test on you and treat the main cause eg hypothyroidism etc.In the meantime , drink plenty of water!
