Depends : Size of the injury will determine how long to recover. you need to talk with doctor who has seen your imaging study to figure out.

Diet exercise: Fatty liver is a serious problem that responds readily to diet. Fatty liver caused by diet high in sugar and other simple carbohydrates. Excess body fat, the result of eating too many calories and  sedentary lifestyle contribute to many health problems including fatty liver disease. Fatty  liver is reversible by diet/exercise. Progress in reducing fat in liver followed by liver enzymes decreasing.

It depends: Iron overload liver disease could result in joint pain. If you are being treated with certain medications for liver disease (i.e. Hepatitis c), then you could be experiencing "flu like" symptoms which can mimic joint aches. However this pain can also be a result of other factors including other medical conditions, so i would recommend you discuss this with either your pcp, GI or liver doctor.

Likely: If you had a high alcohol intake for months, you are very likely to have some degree of inflammation of the liver (alcoholic hepatitis) that could be measured with a blood test (the level of your transaminase liver enzymes would indicate how severe it is). Prolonged drinking often leads to irreversible liver damage (cirrhosis of the liver), but the amount of alcohol and duration required varies.

Continue abstinence: The most important thing is to stay abstinent and don't drink any alcohol. After that, best to avoid common liver toxic drugs like Acetaminophen in excessive amounts. Good luck.

Liver Is In Trouble: You may see significant improvement with time and abstinence.  Milk thistle is an herb that is used world wide for this problem. Yes, even one drink can prolong healing when or if your liver is still inflamed. It must heal fully before retesting anything toxic to it.

It's already better: Fatty liver is a result of obesity/high calorie, high fat diet.

Accepted Answer

No: There are many conditions that could cause elevation of liver enzymes. You should have this evaluated and follow up with your physician. It may not be cirrhosis.
