Talk to doctor: You&#x27;re also taking Brintellix, an antidepressant which can interact with Trazodone to boost serotonin in the brain. Meds and whatever you&#x27;re calling a &quot;manic episode&quot; should be reviewed with prescribing doctor. Please don&#x27;t make any changes on your own. Be sure to have regular appointments with prescriber or consider a psychiatrist. Your situation is complicated and requires careful monitoring.

recently prescribed trazadone and zoloft (sertraline) for anxiety/insomnia. is it safe to 1 mg prednisone for severe allergic asthma to cats while visiting my mother's house for the day? i've benefited previously.

Prednisone: No obvious interactions found between low dose Prednisone and zoloft or trazodone.  Prednisone and singulair (montelukast) (another asthma product) may cause mood changes. Contact your physician if you notice any mood changes or signs of depression when using these medications.

Zoloft (sertraline): Zoloft (sertraline) can be very effective for treating anxiety. Insomnia can occur occassionally as a side effect. When that happens, i usually recommend that it be taken in the morning. It can cause weight loss or gain (but weight gain is more common).

Take sertraline am: Sertraline (zoloft) can cause difficulty with sleep, especially if taken at night. This goes away in time for some patients but not for others. Taking it in the morning may reduce this side effect.

Zoloft (sertraline): Try taking the zoloft (sertraline) in am instead of evening. Hopefully, this side effect will pass. Let your psychiatrist know. In the meantime - use excellent sleep hygiene. Retire &amp; rise same time each day. Keep bedroom dark &amp; cool &amp; use only for sex &amp; sleep. Turn off tv. No naps. Exercise regularly but not in late evening. No caffeine for 6 hrs &amp; no alcohol or tobacco w/i 2 hrs of sleep. Keep dinner &gt;

See below: Insomnia is a possible side effect of zoloft (sertraline). After discussing w/ your prescribing doctor, one option would be to take it in the morning to avoid the effects. Another is to discuss about switching to another medication. Speak w/ your prescribing doctor about it. Also, you can help to sleep better, by avoiding caffeine, alcohol, ; bright lights near bedtime.  Try to regularize your sleep schedule.

What sleep aids?: I don't know how long you've been on zoloft, (sertraline) or what sleep aids mean. Sleep disturbance is often part of depression, and improves as depression remits. Zoloft (sertraline) requires at least 4-6 weeks -- and often longer -- to show its effects. Risperdal is an antipsychotic and not really a sleep aid; can help with psychotic depression or bipolar. Your own psychiatrist will be better able to answer you on this.

Usually 2-3 weeks: When beginning an SSRI med like zoloft, (sertraline) it is not unusual to have some restlessness that may interfere with sleep, but this usually resolves after several weeks.  Some patients find that a PM dose causes less insomnia, but for now, I recommend being consistent in the AM. If you have more agitation, contact your doctor. Avoid caffeine and chocolate in your diet.  You may try Melatonin for sleep.
