can untreated deviated septum cause constant mucus in chest? is this post nasal drip? how is this treated? it's affecting my breathing substantially.

Yes it can: A deviated septum is common, but when severe, can block your nasal passages & change airflow to create additional mucus in your throat. There may be membrane swelling in the side bones of the nose, also called turbinates.  Swelling of these tissues can also block nasal passages & increase drainage.  Your doctor can examine your nose, try some nasal medications, or refer to an ENT for surgery.

no prior mi. chest pain with exertion for last 18 months. finally got an ekg, said no lvh and ekg "is ok". echo normal except following. lv ef 45%. i think i have a blockage (calcium score showed 300 lad.). lv normal size but inf & septum hypokinesis?

: Unfortunately, your symptoms and echocardiogram reveal evidence of coronary heart disease and ischemic cardiomyopathy. You need a coronary angiogram as soon as possible. See a cardiologist is a must with these findings.

i was told on the 16th september 2019 that i have a lung infection but im supposed to have a nasal operation on the 4th october 2019 (deviated septum). is this enough time to recover from the lung infection or should i move the operation?

Lung infection : Call the surgeons office  and let them know about the infection , the actual diagnosis and treatment  ordered and they  should make the decision., as they know how infection affect the outcome the the surgery planned.

is prolonged lack of airflow enough to atrophy a lung or create complications with air volume? i've had a deviated septum for a few years now. my left nostril barely gets any airflow. in the past couple of months, i've been feeling more and more discomfor

A : A deviated septum does not cause atalectasis (partial collapse of lung), nor should it hamper your ability to perform a full inspiration by mouth. I would initially recommend a chest x-ray (pa & lateral) and pulmonary function testing. Your primary care physician or internist can order this for you. I hope i'm interpreting the question properly in assuming your statement " i can't breath as deep...." is refering through your mouth and not your nose ( which could be attributable to the septal deviation).

i had septoplasty surgery in oct 2014 which straighten my deviated septum &reduced my turbinates. it's may 2015 &my nose is swollen again, making it hard to breathe &causing mid chest discomfort with a little dry cough, what can i do?

Consult: an allergist  since the problem is recurring and you could be tested for what you're allergic to  and treated with effective medicines. Get well.

Many causes: Agree with Dr Fowler that we clinicians cannot possibly diagnose “painful chest” without more information.  Chest pain can be due to injury, heart problems, lung infection or tumor, sometimes digestive issues , etc. A thorough history can help guide the diagnosis.

Need more info: What kind of pain? Is it affected by movement? Do you have any other symptoms? How old are you? If you are an adult and could be having a heart attack, take an aspirin and call and ambulance to take you to the nearest emergency room of a hospital.

Middle?: Top to bottom or front to back makes all worry about angina, but it can be a variety of GI issues (reflux, esophagitis, esophageal cancer), bony/arthritic (costochondritis). It usually warrants an ekg and blood tests, and possibly more extensive investigation.
