Some is normal: On a lab test  we centrifuge your urine and there is always some urine sediment.  What is in the sediment is what is important.  If you had a uti, were treated and now feel better, the sediment is likely of no consequence, but best to check with the doc who ordered it to make sure.

Accepted Answer

Not necessarily: It could simply be salts precipitating out as the urine hits the toilet water.  On the other hand if you are having white discharge from the urethra (tube running from bladder out), then this should be seen by a doctor pronto.  Good luck.

Not uncommon: Increased sediment in the urine can signify a biliary blockage, which can take place after gallbladder removal. If concerned, see your surgeon for post-op consult.

May be okay ....: What you see most likely represents the presence of amorphous phosphate crystals commonly appearing in alkaline urine and considered to be normal as long as voiding okay and urinalysis from properly collected urine is normal. More? Ask experts timely.

See answer: In the absence of noticeable increased urinary frequency, urgency, burning, bladder pressure, a UTI is much less likely. Sediment in urine often related to the ph of urine, whereas  the presence of wbcs in the voided urine of a female more often representative of vaginal contamination than infection.  A urine culture would rule out uti.  I suspect your lower back pain is not  urinary tract related.

does high monocytes and low amount of wbc in blood test indicate infection? and what does high amorphous sediment in urine test mean?

These mean nothing: Only a very high absolutely monocyte count is of any concern if you feel well, and low WBC is of concern if and only if lymphs or neuts are way-way low. If you're sick, this whispers "rule out typhoid". Amorphous sediment is simply stuff that was soluble at body temperature but crystallized as the urine cooled. It means nothing at all.

i have a super public catheter and i have to flush it often. i notice light yellow urine after it's changed for approximately the first 24 hours i rarely have a problem after the initial change of the new catheter, sediment begins the next day?

: Sediment in urine with an indwelling urinary catheter isn't necessarily abnormal. A urinalysis with a microscopic examination of the spun down sediment and a urine culture &amp; colony count is a way to check for abnormalities in the urine.

my husband has gray to black sand like sediment in his urine. he has a folly catheter. no fever, urine normal color and smell. this just started today?

Not clear why he has: ...a Foley in the first place, but what you describe may need some attention to treat early or avoid infection.

UTI?: Some pain (dysuria) can be experienced after removal of a Foley catheter. But if pain persists more than 2 days after removal of the catheter, i would recommend being checked for a urinary tract infection (uti).

had catheter now harder to hold in urine. why is that?

Accepted Answer

Several causes: Catheter can cause irritation and depending on how long it was in, can temporarily decrease bladder capacity by not allowing bladder to go through fill-empty cycle.  Should be short-term issue. It is also possible to have infection from catheter that can cause urgency/leakage.
