Cyst: Use of heat could^ blood flow which may cause itching or your may have burned your skin if compresses were too hot. If this is a sebaceous cyst- they often resolve on their own or they may remain without causing problems. If there is a lot of redness, swelling, heat, tenderness - this could have become infected.  Occasionally a cyst may need to be excised. Talk to your doctor if this worsens.

Call the surgeon: There is always some pain/dicomfort after a sugical procedure and the doc who did your surgery should be best person to manage your pain--he/she knows what was done. It is expected that you will have some pain, but if it is excessive or worsening, consult doc for eval as there is chance of infection etc...Tylenol/motrin may help ease the discomfort untill seen by doc. : The ER is for problems that threaten life or limb in the foreseeable future. It is where people go who may need to be admitted.  The regular office or an urgent care center would be the proper location for care. You would be seen in an ER by law, but triaged to the bottom of any pending cases while serious problems are seen first.  Expect a long wait &amp; likely a referral to an outside doc for Rx.
