hi,

i scratched my inner ear, close to my ear drum, a couple days ago with a qtip (i know, dumb). i noticed this morning, then tonight, there's still fresh blood on wound. it doesn't hurt or bother me except if sing or talk a lot or i mess with it?

Ear canal abrasion: Unless you are on blood thinners it should heal itself. just don't mess with it and avoid singing.
Keep your ear dry for a few days, don't get water in it from the shower.

i tried to scratch my itching inner ear with my thumb, then pinky. i scratched in as far as i could for relief, then felt pain. can this harm my ear?

Otitis externa: scratching your external ear canal with your fingers may cause an infection.
Placing vinegard and diluted peroxide with a  bulb syringe may help you to relieve your symptoms.
May need a Dr if symptoms do not improve

Accepted Answer

Not a good: idea to fiddle with it.  You might have incited an infection or irritation of the ear canal.  Have your doctor take a look at it.  He can prescribe eardrops for you.

Coughing: Not very likely to damage your inner ear when coughing.

Mecluzine ?: Need to see an ENT doctor, you may have vertigo from inner ear congestion or infection. Possible medications to be used are, meclizine, steroids, antibiotics , decongestants. Let your doctor decide what's best for your condition.

what can cause your inner ear to tickle and sometimes itch?

Skin inflammation: Almost all of my patients with this complaint "clean their ears." they use qtips or peroxide or other measures to remove wax from the canal. The wax is there for a reason - it protects the ear canal skin. When the skin is unprotected it gets inflamed and can itch. Stop cleaning your ears! other reasons can include sensitivity to shampoos, soaps or hair products that get in the ear.

will flying make inner ear /balance symptoms worse ? or aggravate when better ?

Likely, yes: The air pressure changes of flying should not affect the inner ear problem, but  movement of the plane without the ability to see outside the plane will likely make the balance problem worse temporarily.  This will also likely aggravate the problem when you are better.

Inner ear problem: Discomfort is a difficult symptom to assign a specific cause to. Your best course is to see an otolaryngologist for a complete head and neck examination. Your work-up will most likely include a hearing test +/- balance test depending on your symptoms. A special MRI may be needed.

feels like something is zapping my inner ear! it's like static in headphones but i get it without headphones on! what is wrong?

See your ENT doctor: See your ENT doctor.  It could be as simple as a small hair rubbing on your ear drum.  But you do not want to poke a hole in your ear drum trying tom get it out. Could also be an infection, or tinnitus- which is from latin for ringing bells. See a professional.

Dizziness: Vertigo or a sense of dizziness can develop with some chronic diseases, age, or during and after a viral illness.  Your have had the correct procedures.  You might consider being evaluated by an otorhinolaryngologist (ENT) physician.  Few medications actually help.  
Dramamine, often used for sea sickness is often useful but rest and trying to stare at a fixed object when you feel dizzy helps many.
