Accepted Answer

: Your annular tear will cause low back pain, and if a portion of the disc contacts a nerve root, referral of sciatic pain down the leg in that distribution would be associated.  An examination will readily answer that question.  See your doctor and clarify, but also start therapy.

i have been suffering from sciatica this week and today i have had upper lip numbness/tingling on and off is it related to the sciatica?

No relationship: You have two very different and separate issues, and neither causes or affects the other.

Unusual: But if you are assuming a different gait or posture to compensate for the pain and swelling, you may end up with pain elsewhere . If the problem persists, consult an orthopedist.

Normal. : This is fairly normal after that kind of procedure. It should improve within a week or two. If it gets worse, you should let your surgeon know.

Pinched Nerve: While there are many causes of leg pain and numbness one of the most common causes is lumbar radiculopathy.  This occurs when one of the nerves leaving the back gets compressed as it leaves the spine and travels down the leg.  Compression may occur due to degenerative/bulging discs or arthritic bone spurs contacting the nerve.  See your physician if these symptoms last longer than 2 weeks.

You : You have a classic picture of an s1 radiculopathy. More likely than not you have a disc problem at l5-s1. Another less common problem is compression of the sciatic nerve at the level of your gluteal area. This should be examined by a competent orthopedic surgeon and additional tests ordered.

i am an ex-junkie with severe chest pain, and i had endocarditis in the past. now i have numb lip & right leg pain, left sided chest pain. what could be causing this?

Emergency: What you are reporting requires an urgent visit to the local er to determine if it is a stroke or cerebrovascular accident (of which you are at a much higher risk than the general population). 

Completion of the cincinnati stroke scale may help: 1.Smile: face should be symmetric, 2. Raise both arms, 3. Speak a simple sentence. If any of the above are abnormal, please contact emergency services.

Maybe: Sciatica usually refers to shooting pain coming from the back going down one (not both) of the legs.  Regardless such pain represents an irritation of some structures in the body.  Numbness represents a nerve (somewhere) not functionally properly.   These conditions require an evaluation by an appropriately trained health professional.

Sciatica: What you describe may be sciatica. It is caused by inflammation of a nerve in the low back which runs down the leg. You need to see a doctor to get a real diagnosis and treatment.

Yes: yes it can. Especially, with activity.however, I would see a neurologist to make sure that you do not have a nerve disease, I eat underwear apathy whether the sciatica. The floor more is more likely to cause these symptoms. I meant former.
