Risky activities: Lymph nodes monitor the status of the lymph which contains white cells that have eaten bacteria, viruses, etc and digested food too thick to go into the arteries/veins. Are delicate structures that when removed may reduce lymph flow.  Further damage can occur if their area is further traumatized with unmonitored exercise and massage.  Your surgeon is the best guide to what to do , how soon/often.

While one cannot: Cure it, the symptoms can be treated. Medication, exercise, therapy, splinting, activity modification and surgery. Exercises that can help are going through a full gentle range of motion each day. Warmth helps ease stiffness, such as a warm shower or parafin bath. cold eases swelling associated with increased use.  Bouchards nodes are over the pip joints but will not go away with treatment

Maybe: Yes cryoablation is the best treatment for true ectopic foci, but make sure the rapid heart rate is not due to something else first.  I have had patients with that symptom caused by thyroid, adrenal, anemia, mitral valve, and vitamin/electrolyte problems and lupus.

i am 22 years old i exercise regularly, dont do any drugs. drink on the weeknds but controlled. lymph nodes in my armpits (and only in my armpits) swell and go down regularly, no other symptoms. i took an hiv test 2 weeks ago came out neg. thoughts?

HIV risk?: Have you been at risk for HIV? Unprotected sex with partners at risk? Injection drug use? If not, why are you worried? Your symptoms are not even reomotely suggestive of HIV. Tested 2 weeks after what? If more than a few weeks after last possible exposure, the test result is conclusive. HIV tests ALWAYS are positive if symptoms are caused by HIV. Sounds like nothing to worry about.

ingrown hair got infected and caused the lymph node nearby to become a bit painful (groin). is it safe to exercise (run) with a swollen lymph node?

Accepted Answer

Yes: If you can tolerate the exercise, it would be appropriate. For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, low fat milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. 
Practice safe sex.

i dophone sales hoarse & worsening saw ent no nodes/dysphasia. edema in pseudo cords. speech therapist says few exercises b/c voice so bad now. help!

Hoarse: A few days rest would be very helpful, otherwise stay well hydrated, use a cool mist vaporizer and stay well hydrated. Tea with honey is helpful as is the old standby of chicken soup.

Get checked: Your symptoms could be part of a bigger issue that could explain everything.  You should be seen by a doctor for a complete history and physical - and probably blood work.  Don't delay!

Rest: During such a flareup when so much inflammation is present, i would not exert yourself but, instead, get plenty of rest and take the medications ordered by your rheumatologist. Avoidance of emotional stress is also important.

28 y/o, f, hormonal iud, pcos: recently started feeling one-sided pelvic joint pain, with two swollen inguinal lymph nodes. pain seems to be aggravated by exercise. occasional cramping pain, no periods. is it pcos related? had a clean ct on 3/28/22?

: The negative CT scan almost 5 months ago does not have any meaning with your current symptoms which suggest an acute inflammatory versus infectious process. You should be examined by a doctor if symptoms persist in the next day or two.
