i had a hip replacement in 2016 and then again to remove a heterotopic bone and now i  have severe pain which some think is bursitis and others that think it is scar tissue,...can you help me?

: you need to be evaluated by the surgeon that operated on you , meanwhile you need to improved the strength of your muscle by exercise , the stronger the muscle around the hip the more they protected you from pain, you can use naproxen bid with meals as long as you are not allergic, to minimize the pain

: If a surgical site is getting red and warm, it is worth getting it checked out to be sure that it is not getting infected. You should call the surgeon who did the surgery for evaluation. Good luck.

Complication are : Infrequent.Infection a small number of people can develop an infection with a total hip replacement this complication can require further surgery to remove the prosthetic components and clean out the joint along with a course of antibiotics lasting six to eight weeks
 the incidence of nerve injury o-3% in primary total hip arthroplasty most common the sciatic nerve but the femoral, obturator also.

Hip abductors: Hip abductor strengthening exercises are ideal.  One exercise is the crab walk.  Tie a theraband in a closed loop, place it around your ankles, bend hips and knees slightly, and walk sideways 10 steps then back again and repeat.  Try 3 sets of this a day.  Another good exercise are clamshells.  Lie with op side up, flex knees and hips, keep ankles together and open and close knees.

Varies: Most total hip patients experience significant pain relief very soon after surgery. It is not uncommon though for a patient to need occasional pain medication for a few weeks after surgery. Individual pain thresholds vary from person to person.

Sleeping & sitting: It depends on the timing after surgery.  Also the type of surgical approach that was used.  If you are at least 6 weeks out from surgery you should be able to sit or sleep in any position that you desire.  If you are in the immediate post op period, that is less than 6 weeks, these positions would be determined by the surgical approach.  You should talk with your surgeon to determine the approach.
