what is the treatment for scaphoid fracture?

Non-op & surgery: If the scaphoid fracture is only minimally displaced, it has a good chance to heal in a cast. The cast needs to go out over the thumb. Sometimes it needs to go up over the elbow too. If your doctor thinks that it won't heal in a cast, a screw can be put across it in the hope of making it heal better and/or faster.

Depends on a number: of factors, like what symptoms you have; how does the wrist look and feel; any other symptoms; any arthritis you have;  is it dominant side; the condition of the skin and soft tissues; 
See your Orthopod and he'll do what is the best treatment for you. You might have a 2nd opinion. 
 Without examining you &amp; having benefit of XRays, it'll be difficult to give you any OPTIONS.

6-10 weeks: Scaphoid fractures take a very long time to heal due to its poor blood supply. Cast or splint immobilization is often needed for a prolonged period if these injuries are treated non-operatively.

More tests: It would be important to know if your original fracture just never healed or if it is a new fracture as they would be treated differently.  A C T scan would usually be able to differentiate between the two.

Scaphoid fractures: This commonly fractured bone in the wrist can sometimes be either slow to heal or non healing. This has to do with the fact that the blood supply is many times disrupted in the injury. Therefore this type of fracture requires evaluation and moinitering by an Orthopaedic surgeon until it heals. The fact u r having severe pain is of concern. Get an evaluation

X ray to diagnose: Pain on the radial side of the wrist can be a sign of a scaphoid fracture.

Often active patients suffer a "bad wrist sprain" ignore it and then show up years later with a painful wrist due to an scaphoid fracture which was not diagnosed.  

An x ray with a dedicated view of the scaphoid can help make the diagnosis, although within the first 2 weeks a of a fracture the x-rays can miss a fracture.

Yes: If the wrist is swollen and bruised, i would be concerned for a wrist injury. Radiographs or x-rays would be beneficial to rule out a fracture.

Go back: To the doc, let him evaluate the pain, and reapply a new cast. It might of loosened if swelling reduced.

i fell on my left wrist skating and i felt a sharp pain. it hurts when i move it to the left, i cant even move it to the left without help from my other hand. i am thinking it is a scaphoid fracture.

Fracture likely: Please see an urgent care center right away for an x ray and evaluation. Create a splint for your wrist with cardboard and an ace wrap, if you do not have one. Use ice to reduce swelling and for pain relief use Motrin.

i was out and a tree landed on my arm i heard a snap i had a previous scaphoid fracture and it feels painful and i have no movement in my wrist ?

Scaphoid non-union: Needs to be evaluated by hand surgeon. surgery may be required.
