Rash: Viral exanthems are common in younger children.  Although various viruses can cause it cocksackie viruses are probably most common.  If your child is having no symptoms there is usually nothing specific to do.  The rash will typically last for a few days and then disappear.

How long: first question is how long has it been there, and did you put anything on your skin to cause the rash. The simple treatment for red non painful rashes that aren't oozing, is over the counter hydrocortisone. But if the rash isn't improving with the topical for a few weeks, or if at anytime you develop a fever or other systemic symptoms then you should see your dermatologist.

taking ciprofloxacin and developed a slight rash on chest after being in the sun all day.  should i take benadryl?

Alternate abx.: Photodermatitis is a known side effect for Cipro.  If you cannot avoid sun exposure, you will need to ask your doctor for an alternative. Benadryl may help itching but will not do much for your type of dermatitis. A topical steroid may help. It is uncertain that sunscreen would prevent the sun reaction but is worth trying.

Nice try: Appreciate your trying to describe your rash, but you really have to be seen to be diagnosed.  Duration of the rash also signals that you need to be examined.  Please talk to your GP's office and ask if they want you to see a skin specialist, a Dermatologist.

See your doctor: Red bumps on your pubic area need to be seen by a physician because they usually need treatment.  Red itchy rashes are also important to treat.  They can range from infections which are also contagious such as strep or herpes to skin conditions such as allergies and eczema.  Please do not delay getting a diagnosis and proper treatment.

Pityriasis rosea?: This is just a good guess. Could be other things. But if it's pr it will resolve on its own. However it could be other entities i would hate to scare you with here. Suggest a derm eval.
