while i'm awake,in the day,i feel saliva go down my windpipe and i choke on it so severely that i cant breathe. sometimes i need my inhaler. thoughts?

Maybe LPR...: Exposure of the vocal cords to stomach acid &amp; pepsin will result in inflammation of the vocal cords (as is also often seen with acid regurgitation). Acute laryngitis may result, but watch out for chronic hoarseness, throat clearing, airway spasms, bronchitis, an asthma-type presentation, and even a higher risk of throat cancer. Impedance pH testing with a symptom diary can best characterize this.

several times i have choked on my saliva until i passed out. i happens when i attempt to take a breath and saliva is inhaled into my windpipe. i will cough for 15 seconds or less before i pass out. what would cause this? it has happened to me 3 times?

: First you need to uncover source of liquid inhaled, and this could be sinus likely, but also consider GERD.  You likely have a vasovagal reaction causing syncope as a secondary phenomenon.  Contact your doctor, get the causation answers, and this should address consequences.

Nose humidifies more: Your respiratory system is designed with a natural humidifying organ, your nose. When you do not breathe through it, the air bypasses its humidifier and reaches the throat and lungs still dry. When you do breathe through your nose, the air is 100% humidified by the time it reaches those places. Your nasal membranes secrete about a quart of fluid a day, much of it water vapor reabsorbed in the lung.

Hair Cells: When air is filters though the nose there are hair cells and mucous cells which help to clean ands sort of humidify the air. This is usually worse in winter when the heat comes on and the air lacks humidity drying out the mucous membranes.

Immediately: A normal person in a normal state of mind usually coughs up any food or gum in the windpipe immediately. A person who has some medical disability (unable to sense a piece of food there, or unable to cough effectively, etc.) might not cough it up, and end up choking or having pneumonia. A person abusing drugs or alcohol and not in a normal state of mind, may also end up choking or having pneumonia.

It's a reflex: To protect the trachea from being blocked (which would lead to death) or the lungs from developing an infection.

i got pizza stuck in the wrong windpipe. i drank.some pop and alot of water and it's not going down the same windpipe my food went. pls how do i get it out/swallow it at home?

Trachea: There is only one "wind pipe", and that is called the trachea. The other "food pipe" is called the esophagus. If you aspirated pizza into your lungs you would be coughing up a storm and not on the internet. Food sometimes feels "stuck" in the esophagus but it makes its way to your stomach just the same. Take smaller bites and eat slowly.

Post nasal drip: You might have chronic sinus infections causing excessive secretions which can be accidentally aspirated into your airway.

i got fluid and a little bit of food down my windpipe into my lungs. could this develop into pneumonia?

It's possible.: It is certainly possible that you could develop pneumonia from aspiration of solid and liquid material. Try to cough out as much of it as you can. If you do start coughing up phlegm, running fevers, or becoming short of breath, see your doctor immediately. Good luck.

Unlikely : Water and small amounts of liquid may make you cough and clear.
Solids, will obstruct, cause spasm
and without removal may kill a person.
