85 year old with salzmann's is scheduled for cataract removal surgery.  are there any concerns?  should nodules be removed prior to surgery?  scaring?

Accepted Answer

Salzmann's nodules: hyaline deposits between the epithelium and Bowmans membrane of Cornea causing astigmatism. Superficial keratectomy of astigmatism-inducing Salzmann’s nodules should always be performed prior to cataract surgery. Stable keratometry readings and IOL calculations cannot be reliably obtained until 3 to 6 weeks after surgery. Toric IOLs should be avoided because of the risk of recurrent nodule.

i have some small non vascular salzmans nodules in my line of sight. i also have an old scar in the vicinity that comes up to the edge of my pupil. my question: the general opth. states he can peel these off . should i go to a cornea specialist?????

: the surgery to remove the nodule is very straight forward, and a general ophthalmologist or a corneal expert can do it.  Best of luck

Rice: Though uncommon, pumpkin and its derivatives can cause an allergy as can various types of rice. There is no reason to expect that the more aromatic wehani rice would be an exception. Rice allergy as a whole is rare.

Yes: You could eat fried food though is not healthy

Accepted Answer

Probably yes: A tangelo is a hybrid cross between a tangerine and a grapefruit. In other words a tangelo is 50% tangerine. If you are allergic to tangerine it would be foolhardy to try your luck with a tangelo. In fact, i would strongly advise caution with all citrus - orange, lemon, lime, grapefruit and kumquat.

can i eat frozen salmon from costco raw (as sashimi)?

Eat Healthy : If the salmon is sushi grade, why not? It is better to ask the store in charge in seafood to be sure.

Nothing wrong: There is no concern about any of the ingredients you mention.  Am not sure whether to say it is &quot;good&quot; since other unprocessed foods are probably as good.  It is an interesting combination of ingredients.  I presume you did some research before choosing them?  If you feel it helps you then there is no reason that i know of not to continue with it.

Yolks yes, whites no: One or two yolks weekly should be fine - that's where the fat and cholesterol are. Whites are mainly protein and are a very lean and effective source of such and can be eaten more liberally.

Yes: That sounds like a delicious lunch. As a general rule it is better to ask before eating something you are concerned about.

what's a healthy french fry substitute recipe for baked sweet potatoes fries?

Recipe...: This is my first health tap recipe..  Cut the sweet potatoes the size of french fries. (the thinned you cut them, . The faster they cook.)  put them in a plastic bag with some olive oil and shake to coat them.  (you can use a bowl if you wish.)  bake in a 400 degree oven until done. Season to taste and enjoy.
