Avoid meds with : Pseudoephedrine, as it constricts blood vessels, thereby increasing heart rate and blood pressure, as do stimulant medications. Plain robitusssin (guaifenesin) is  fine.

Robitussin (guaifenesin) is....: ..Pretty close to worthless (as are mucinex, (guaifenesin) delsum, triaminic, etc.).For a simple cough not related to pneumonia or asthma, buckwheat honey is quite effective.  Don't use the stuff in the bear jar; it helps much less.  Use a teaspoon of *buckwheat* honey every now and then as needed. If the cough persists, worsens, fever develops, or any other worsening of the problem, see your pediatrician.

Mgt.: It is important to determine the cause of the cough. Nasal saline rinses and mist humidification may also relieve your symptoms.  Monitor your temperature and if there are fever spikes, please see acute care. 
A flu vaccination is recommended.

Cough: Generally as per aap guidelines, cough suppressants are not recommended for such young children. Give her 1 teaspoon of honey at night, have a humidifier in her room and let her sleep with head propped up. This should help.
