Potential Overdose: It takes between 1-4 grams of acetaminophen to overdose.  The maximum daily dose for Ritalin (methylphenidate) in adults is 60 mg/day. An overdose of these medications could be fatal. See your PCP for help.

In persons suffering of adhd may have a calming effect but in the others may increase the metabolic rate, which leads to abuse of these substances at times. Libido depends on too many factors to describe here. Stimulants have an antidepressant effect particularly if medically ill.

Very different: Strattera (atomoxetine), (atomoxetine) a non-stimulant, works quite differently from ritalin.  Ritalin works within minutes but wears off later that day; it can be taken or skipped day-to-day as needed.  Strattera (atomoxetine) has to build up in the body and may take several weeks to have an effect; it must be taken daily.  Ritalin works about 65% of the time; strattera, (atomoxetine) about 45%.  When they work, though, benefits quite similar.
