Perhaps serious.: There are a variety of things that could cause this. If it just started happening hours or minutes ago and it is getting worse, seek immediate medical attention because it could be a heart attack or a pulmonary embolism.  If it has been happening for a longer period of time, it might just be a muscle strain or broken rib.

An : An ultrasound can suggest what it is bit is not definitive. An ultrasound looks at fluid changes so for a cyst it is good to see the transition from the awl of the cyst to the inside fluid layer. Stll where it is can also influence the ultrasounds ability to discern detail. I.E. Behind a bone the sound waves may not get through as well.

While the tech may give someone preliminary info one really needs to wait for the formal report and for the ordering physician to review it and make sur the findings correspond and are relevant to the problem.  This last reason is why a lot of physicians/surgeons are starting to do their own musculoskeletal ultrasound in their own office setting. The ability for a surgeon who knows the anatomy primarily to see structures and do a relevant physical exam at the same time becomes of great value.

Shortness of breath : And chest pressure are very good reasons to see a doctor. Without a history and physical exam these are vague symptoms. It could be as simple as a viral syndrome or as serious as pneumonia. Please see your physician.

Many causes: Please have a chest image to determine the next best step. A pulmonary evaluation virtually is available at Healthtap. You may have an infection/bronchospasm. Monitor your temperature, consider flu and COVID 19 testing. Watch for weight loss, fever, cough. A V/Q scan and PFTs with DLCO may be obtained from your local medical center.

im experiencing squeezing in my chest, shortness of breath, back pain, shoulder and arm and neck pain on the left for 4 days. ecg says septal infact, sinus tachycardia & abnormal ecg but the er sent me home. should i schedule a follow-up appointment?

: Need to see ECG to be able to help.  Best to look at old ECG if available. Do you have early family history of heart attack. Are your lipids OK. If you smoke stop.  Discuss with your reg Dr who knows you.

Cancer: For cancer to cause shortness of breath it has to be advanced. It is highly unlikely it would have been missed 3mo ago if it were that bad now.

if heart has been ruled out what else could cause lightheadedness, breathlessness, bad breath, excessive sweating, night sweats, chest discomfort behind breast bone, neck pain and upper throat pain under chin? what should i ask to have checked next?

Your PCP?: If you have a PCP, he/she should be able to help you in managing almost all your symptoms, which are difficult to attribute to any one disease. So let's handle them one at a time. This requires you to make a list by order of  magnitude or severity to your mind. Some of the symptoms suggest an element of stress either in your home or work life. For this I would suggest that you exercise(walk) daily
