i've had pain under right breat/top of rib cage for 1 month.  pcp ordered xr's and ct and given pain meds. if i pulled a muscle how long could it last?

Rib Pain: Different considerations: pulled muscle, usually lasts days or several weeks; rib fracture, bad pain 2-3 months, pain with twisting 6-9 months before gone (speaking from personal experience here); thoracic disc herniation, one sided pain, shooting, worse with bend/twist, usually better 6-18 weeks. Always assume rib/chest pain on left is heart until proven otherwise. May need nerve root injection.

i have a pain in between my rib cages where it v's at the top. it feels like a knot and hurts when i apply pressure to it. i am only 19. ?

when i press down on top of left rib fells like air under it why ...been bothering me on and off for a while ...i seen a nurse that said could be spleen need to get check asap but my dr did not take in concern to it?

Subcutaneous emphysema: This sounds like it could be subcutaneous emphysema. Gas gets trapped under the skin, could be a collapsed lung or rib fracture but infections can do this  as well. Most of the conditions that cause subcutaneous emphysema are very severe, and you are likely already being treated by a doctor. Sometimes a hospital stay is needed, especially if due to an infection. I would get seen now.

Left ribcage throb: Lungs go to the apex, heart more distal and medial.

Get checked out: You should get it checked out right away to rule out heart disease, especially if you are older and have lots of other medical problems. There are many causes for chest pain (musculoskeletal, gastrointestinal, cardiac, lung, etc) and a detailed history and physical and possibly more extensive testing are needed to define the source.

Possible costochondr: You ust be examined and have your chest palpated by your physician. This may be an inflammation of the chest wall or rib cartilages. You may need a chest xray for further evaluation.

May be a Lipoma: From your description it may be a lipoma.Which is a benign fatty tumor.But it needs to be checked to be sure what it may be

See doctor: You need to see a doctor about this.  I would think that a chest x-ray would be one thing to consider.

Happens...: It's typically nothing serious. The connective tissue around the ribs can 'pop' like any other joint. It's kind like popping your finger joints. As long as there's no pain and there are no differences, it's not usually anything to worry about.

i have been told i have a lipoma on my back rib at the time was soft since then has gotten bigger, painful and hard is this due to being on top of rib?

Sebaceous cyst?: Could be a sebaceous cyst.

Seek out a dermatologist in your area.  These can be removed in the office with just local anesthetic (numbing medicine).
