It is unlikely: that it is cancer, but it still may require further evaluation with a CT scan to be sure.  If you had any previous chest xrays elsewhere, have them sent to the radiologist to compare with the new one.  That could solve the issue without any additional tests.  Talk to your doctor about the results.

left lower lobe pneumonia march 4. no fever, just felt like junk. got levaquin (levofloxacin). now just feeling weak. chest x-ray clear. how long till i'm better?

Post pneumonia: This is highly variable and depends upon what the causative agent of the pneumonia was, the extent of lung involvement, your personal immune system, and other factors. Give this time, get plenty of rest and a healthy diet. Good luck and hope you are better soon.

i have pneumonia, my chest x-ray is showing a hilar mass or hilar lymphadenopathy. would this be caused my the pneumonia?

Talk to your doctor: This is a potentially very severe situation.  The adenopathy or hilar mass may be causing a post-obstructive pneumonia, or the hilar lesions and the pulmonary infiltrates may be part of a single entity such as sarcoidosis.   This should be discussed at length with the doctor caring for you.

The chest xray: itself cannot diagnose pneumonia, because there are a variety of things that can look like pneumonia on an xray.  The xray findings must be interpreted in the context of the clinical and laboratory findings in order to arrive at a diagnosis.  The xray findings can therefore support the diagnosis, but are not sufficient to establish the diagnosis.

how do you know the difference in pneumonia and tb on a chest x-ray?

Looks different: Pneumonia is a patchy or consolidated infiltrate,  and TB are smaller cavitay lesions or spots in the lung.

can you have pneumonia and it not show on chest x-ray?

Accepted Answer

Yes: You could have a small or minor pneumonia or one in a hard place to see on chest x-ray but in general, if the x-ray is clear, you probably don't have it. Can always get a repeat in a few days if symptoms persist or worsen to see if a pneumonia becomes more apparent.

A healed infection: Linear scarring is often left over from a previous, healed infection, such as pneumonia.  It may be helpful to compare your current Xray with a previous one, in order to verify that the linear opacities have not changed over time.

i had a chest x-ray done on the 2nd bcuz i had covid. i finally tested negative today. on day 13. now my cough changed from dry to kinda wet and i hear a little rattling. should i be worried about pneumonia? can it develop in 3 days ?

: If you have no fever this might resolve in a few days for overwhelming chance it is not pneumonia. If not pl see your doc
