i'm on a homely diet (low fat/oil, moderate carb/protein) frm april. no red meat/alcohol/fast food/fried fd. i'v probs with acid reflux. bit high sgpt/sgot/bilirubin,panc-ok. hb-14. i'v lost 14.5 lbs since april mid. is the wgt loss ok or due to ca ?

Diet: It would seem most reasonable that if you are dieting that is the reason you have lost the weight.

Diets are best: supervised by your doc or a nutritionist.  Low fat is not a good way to go.  We need good fat such as found in coconut oil, olive oil, fish oil, nuts, etc. Low carb is helpful to many folks, as is your brisk walking. i'm down to pretty much rice and coconut. is there a special diet for bad acid reflux?

Several: There are several diet changes that can help with reflux and some of this can depend greatly on the person.  Some people will get reflux with certain foods that never bother many others.  Would recommend you call your physician for general advice specific for you.  Certainly can decrease tomato paste and acidic and spicy foods in the meantime as a trial.  Also try to eat regularly/not skip meals.

how much should my 6 week old eat? she is eating 2 oz every 3 hours with rice added or acid reflux.. 14-18 oz a day?

See below: Most 6 week old children are around 4 ounces  at a feeding. However, if your child is growing okay. I always let them tell you how much they want to eat at a time.

Reflux: Sometimes changing the milk helps.  Sometimes medicine is required.  Your doctor can help you determine what you need.

Yes, it may: Rice cereal is quite safe and often used to thicken the formula in hope that it will reduce the reflux..As it is easier to reflux liquid vs solid foods. Just try a little bit at a time..It may or may not help with reflux. You may want to keep baby head-up a bit after feeding and during sleep--some use a carseat etc..To keep baby head elevated. If symptoms persist, consult doc.

Acid reflux: Saline nasal drops and suction for nasal congestion. Nasal congestion may be from the cold or a symptom of acid reflux. Need to see your physician. There are other medications for reflux as well like Prevacid and bethanecol. Some children need a combination of medications to control reflux.

No: Asthma is a different disease requiring different meds directed towards the lung vs reflux disease.

No: Reflux is a gastric issue; bronchiectasis is a pulmonary issue. There is no reason why bronchiectasis would cause reflux, sorry.

is it ok to take an adult dose of gaviscon for acid reflux every night for long term?

Pharmacist: I suggest that you talk to your pharmacist as long term exposure to the aluminum in gaviscon  may cause metabolic effects such as low serum phosphate. In addition long term use of aluminum containing agents has shown to cause aluminum deposits in various tissues including the brain. I don't know whether the low concentration in gaviscon could be a problem with once daily use. Ask your pharmacist
