Not necessarily: There are many height/ weight charts that you can check on line to see if you are in a healthy weight range.

one of my ribs pop out more than the other. sometimes, as strange as that sounds, they switch the sides of poping out. it hurts. it's been over a year. is this normal?

This is: normal YOUTH (Cartilage "snapping at either end of the ribs)...just don't keep doing it..or it will HURT !

Rib problem: If your ribs are truly "popping out of place" this may be seen in patients with hypermobility syndrome or other conditions in which there is laxity of the connective tissues. I recommend seeing a rheumatologist and would be happy to do a consult if needed.

my left side ribs pop in and out when i breathe deeply and become painful after sitting for a long period of time. have had this problem for about 3yr?

Floating rib: Can cause these symptoms.  You can get an injection if pain gets real bad.  As you get older, the cartilage will harden, and pain will go away, but it might take years.

bottom left rib sticks out and pops near sternum  when someone hugs me or theres pressure on them.xrays show no broken rib.why does it do this & hurt?

Cartridge fractures : Your cartilage is broken not your  ribs. cartilage is not seen well on CT scan and X-rays. 
I normally repair these with a titanium plate from sternum to the proximal rib and reduce the fractures cartilage.

pains under left breast on ribs. feels like it pops out when i bend over sometimes. took xray. said there was nothing wrong. what do you think?

Don't worry about it: There are several possibilities, mostly in the mild abnormality range.  I think you should treat with benign neglect for a month or so.  The trouble with x-rays of the ribs is that they may be quite normal with soft tissue changes.  But the symptoms don't sound alarming to me.

i went to a doctor a few days ago. i was told that i tore the ligaments connecting my ribs to my sternum and popped a rib out of its socket. is this something that could possible benefit from seeing a chiropractor to essentially pop it back in place?

Rib injury: I don't recommend any manipulation of the injured area. True rib dislocation is probably not present. Continue with treatment advice and follow-up by your physician. Avoid stressing the injured area. Alternating cold and warm applications help the discomfort.  If you're having continued severe pain, I recommend consulting a thoracic surgeon for evaluation and treatment of this rib cage injury.

i have been coughing so hard my lowest rib on the left side keeps popping in and out.  the pain is un bearable. what should i do?

Exam: It is possible to break a rib from coughing.  You can also have several lung problems that can cause similar pain.  It would be best to have an exam done, particularly if the pain is severe and/or you are short of breath.

Cartilage/ligament : It's usually the border of the cartilage and bone. They run together and can cause a popping sensation. It can happen also between the rib spaces if fluid gets trapped in the ligaments between the ribs.
