if i take a bottle of expressed breast milk out of fridge and warm it up, feed to baby, and then have leftovers..,is it okay to reuse?back in fridge?

Is Not Safe: Re-use of bottled breast milk from a prior feeding is not considered a safe practice. There is risk of bacterial contamination with serious consequences in babies. Additionally, deterioration of beneficial nutrients occurs. To eliminate waste, add to bottle normal amount of milk your baby consumes plus 1-2 oz extra to allow for increase in appetite as baby grows &amp; day-to-day hunger patterns.

Lactation specialist: Not sure i understood the question but it sounds like you are having trouble with your infant breast feeding as the infant was born premature. A lactation specialist which they should have in the hospital can give you a great deal of advice.  There are many people in the community that the dr could refer you to that might be very glad to help.

my 2 month old is fed breast milk from a bottle he drinks 5 oz. it says he should eat every 4 hours but he mostly waits 5 hours is this ok?

Yes!: As long as your baby is growing well, & pooping and peeing regularly, then he may not need to eat every 4 hours. Those recommendations are good guidelines but every baby is unique! kudos to you for exclusively breastfeeding him! it is a hard job & has so many health benefits for both of you. Hopefully you will be able to continue to 6 (or even 12 months).

10m boy rejecting formula. substituting 1 feed with nan as low supply. he has been on bottle since birth and breast milk only. what should i do?

Increase solids: A 10 month old child should be having more solids and with increasing solids his milk intake should decrease. That should obviate the need for formula and u can gradually wean him off breast feeding over weeks or months as per your choice.

Either will do well: You can choose your preference bags or bottles as long as they are made especially for storage. My wife used/uses the lansinoh breastmilk storage bags.

Accepted Answer

Yes: Saving it for the next feeding is fine, but check that the milk is not breaking down (if it has small clumps or smells like rancid butter--toss it out).  Don't refreeze, and if you haven't used it several hours later, it's likely gone bad.

Breastfeed: Breast milk is the best . But substituting it with formula if needed is ok too.

Weaning from breast : If you are willing to pump your own breast milk &amp; freeze it for daily use sine the baby is refusing to drink any formula,  other wise you just have to keep trying until the baby gets used to one of the formulas,  very soon you will be introducing sold food &amp; that will help but  you still need to offer formula or pumped breast milk.  Good luck.

Bottle feeding: You are lucky to have helpers in the care of your new baby.  A generation of babies grew up bottle fed; a new generation is in the care of a nanny or daycare center while mum goes back to work.  When you are with your baby, hold her, talk to her, listen to her.  She will know you are her mother.  Attachment is not all about breastfeeding.

Nurturing: While the nutrition is the same, there is value in natural feeding. Infants who breast feed are listening to mom's heartbeat, swaying with her movements, and sharing the same space. This in some ways mimics the comfort afforded by the womb. As the infant grows older, they may or may not need or appreciate the nurturing. A breast feeder that finishes quickly and wants to get off is ready to  wean.
