See below: Retinal detachment is a condition that requires urgent surgical repair, especially if the central retina (macula) is not yet detached. The "quickest" way to reattach the retina is in the office with laser, freezing treatment, and/or gas injection (pneumatic retinopexy).  Some detachments require surgery in the operating room via scleral buckle and/or vitrectomy.

Get an exam: The only way to find out is to have an exam by a qualified eye MD.  AAO.org is very helpful.  If you have a retinal detachment, the sooner you see a specialist the better.  Time is vision.
