: There is a test using Evans Blue to measure extracellular fluid volume, but we physicians don't use it. Instead we know that depletion of extracellular volume leads to depletion &amp; contraction of circulating &amp; intracellular volume anyway. Serum sodium &amp; chloride can be high or  low  and BUN generally high  in this setting.

: The standard approach, for several decades, has been to draw blood from a vein.  Blood for an artery is best to determine oxygen and carbon dioxide levels, plus pH data.

Accepted Answer

Blood test: Typically an electrolyte panel includes tests for carbon dioxide, Sodium, Potassium and chloride. However, if a BMP or CMP was ordered, it should include calcium.  
Someone would have to do the math to get a ratio, which will not likely be done by the lab.

No: These tests help to determine kidney function, degree of hydration.

Don't fully: Understand your question, but electrolytes and hormones are totally different and would be ordered separately -- so one can't check the other. Both sets of tests would have to be ordered by your doctor before the blood draw.

: Yes it should. However, what do you mean by electrolyte imbalance? Do you have kidney dysfunction, endocrine disease or taking medicine to lower blood pressure?

Multiple sclerosis: There is no single blood test to diagnose multiple sclerosis.  Brain lesions on the MRI, an abnormal electrical study known as evoked potential, and objective evidence of brain or spinal cord disease on exam together offer the highest chance of a diagnosis.

No: Water with electrolytes will not affect thyroid blood tests. However, you are wasting your money on such water. Tap water is just as good if not better.

: Frequently, a lack of minerals in your diet can cause lack of proper water absorption. Add more electrolytes to your daily intake and make sure the formula you use contains calcium, phosphorus, magnesium, chloride, sodium and potassium. Trace minerals may also be needed such as: chromium, copper, fluoride, iodine, molybdenum, selenium, iron, zinc and manganese.
