Not recomanded: Not to mu knowledge> skin tags can be removed easily by your doctor or a dermatologist, it should not be a home procedure. What you think is a skin tag can be a serious skin condition. Please let your doctor evasluate.

Yes: Salicylic acid impregnated pads can be used on skin tags. Place the pad over the skin tag for 24 hours and remove and wash.  Over 1-2 weeks you should spontaneously remove the tag without pain.  Do not use salicylic acid on open wounds/inflamation. Be careful of using the patches on the face or groin.

will removing skin tags from my face leave a scar? i have developed a couple of skin tags on my lower left cheek. they are ugly and really bother me, so i'd like to have them removed. will having them taken off leave a noticeable scar?

See below: Removing a skin tag will not cause another to grow.  When removed, they very rarely regrow.  The tags often grow in areas that rub together or where clothing rubs and they have  hereditary component.  They can be removed with sterile scissors by sniping at the base and lifting at the same time and using styptic to sterilize and stop any bleeding.  Most safely removed by a health care provider.

Dermasil: Dermasil is used to treat dry skin not to remove skin tags. In our clinic we numb the skin tag and then remove it by scissor excision. Electro cautery can also remove skin tags.

I : I would recommend you see a dermatologist who has the right instruments and knowledge (and can make sure it is done in a cosmetically appealing way). Seek plastic surgeon: Children born with a growth around their pinky may have an 'extra' digit.  There are many forms of extra digits from full fingers to just a little bit of skin.  It may be a different lesion not related.  Nonetheless, you should seek a plastic surgeon, because if it is an extra digit then it will require surgery to take it off (it may have bone, cartilage or nerves in it).

Nobody can guess but: In a normal, healthy teenager, a "tiny black speck" the size of a pencil tip is just a tiny dot on the skin, and is not skin cancer. Dots grow bigger with age, which means as a child grows older, more and more dots will become visible. One can go online to look at pictures of skin dots to see when he or she should worry about a particular dot being suspicious.
