Fungal vs trauma: During the removal of the nail, you may have developed either a fungal infection in the nail or there may have been permanent damage to the nai root which is very sensitive. A culture of the nail will reveal a fungal infection which is treatable. If no fungus, then more than likely trauma which is only treatable with permanent nail removal. A podiatrist could assist with that procedure.

i think the dr. removed too much of my big toenail-1/3 overall-i'm afraid my toe will remain disfigured looking with such a small nail, will it regrow?

Depends: If phenol was used to destroy the nail generating tissue you may indeed end up with smaller nail.  The only way to know for sure is to be patient and wait until it grows out.

Oral antifungal: There are many different options including topicals, oral antifungals, and lasers. The most effective treatments are oral antifungals such as sporanox, lamisil, (terbinafine) Diflucan and can have an 80-90% efficacy rate after 3 months. Topical creams have a much lower cure rate (40%) and have to be applied for 9 months. Lasers are also effective but there hasn't been a great amount of research in this area.

i had my toe nails removed, they gave me bacitracin samples. i have the the bacitracin with zinc! is that the same?

Pretty much the same: The zinc containing sample is likely more opaque compared to just the bacitracin sample.

i had my toenail on my big toe removed surgically 5 months ago and now have a lot of pain in the toe and nail growth has stopped is this normal?

The nail growth: Stopping can happen but you should return to your doctor to see why you have pain. Pain should no longer be present.

bleeding after toe nail removal. had 1/3 big toenail removed this aft. bled thru bandage & sock. didn't know to elevate. seems to have stopped. ok?

Ok: If the bleeding has stopped, you should be fine.

This happens: sometimes from the nail polish. I would not reapply any polish, I would also prophylacticaly apply a topical anti fungal agent. Even, tea tree oil would be good.

i need to have many toe nails removed. could i ask my doctor to give me versed instead of painful local injections?

Yes: You could ask. If you are very anxious then it may be helpful. You would still need a local block, you just would not care that it is happening.

i had an ingrown toenail removed some time ago. after the procedure i had a black streak form. recently i had the toenail of the same toe removed due to the nail being loose. the streak is still there what should i do?

: It has to be examined. Pl see your Podiatrist. It is strange that he did not see it during the second surgery
