Bacteria vs  virus: There are a few ways your tonsils could get inflamed. Usually it would start with a viral infection. If the body can't fight it appropriately, then it can become bacterial.  This may take 5-7 days .  At this point you may need antibiotics.

See an ENT: These can be removed with a surgical probe.  Some people try to do this with a toothpick, but this is a dangerous practice and should be discouraged.  If these become extremely large and recurrent it is sometimes an indication for tonsillectomy.  But the best person to make that decision would be an ENT doctor.

See answer: Over years, tonsils can get 'tonsilar crypts' or essentaillly craters in them like 'craters in the moon.'  this allows for food debirs to often get stuck in the tonsilar crypts (one of the most common causes of halitosis [bad breath]).  Gargles can help and trying to chew your food well with fluids to help wash down, but if it becomes a real problem, then surgical removal/tonsils can be done.

Treatment: You can try saline gargle, use a water pick to remove them. Elimination of tonsillar crypts with chemical, laser or radiofrequency ablation also helps.

Long time: Radiation therapy can have numerous ill effects on one's mouth.  The lack of taste is one of these problems. It normally will resolve itself but may take years.  The therapy can affect the salivary glands to reduce the fluids in the mouth for lubrication and taste.  Cavities on the roots of teeth are more common.  Depending on the type of rad source, area exposed, and shielding, the damages vary.

5 patients: (i noticed you were waiting for a while to get answers, so i will comment here although I have limited experience as a dentist.) in my fresh memories, five patients come to mind. All of them had throat/mouth cancer and got similar radiations. Loss of taste seemed common--almost expected. All five patients got sensation back, but took various time. Radiation therapists know many cases, so ask them.

i have osa and am waiting for treatment (removing tonsils). is there anything i can do while im waiting for treatment. i have 12 interruptions an hour?

Sleep reclined: While there is no guarantee a change in sleeping position will be helpful, sometimes sleeping reclined and not flat on your back or sleeping on your stomach will cause less obstruction as your palate and throat relax as you fall asleep, causing less obstruction. It's worth a try, but likely things won't change a whole lot until your obstructing tonsils are removed.

Hard to say: These are normal findings for a 6-9 yo,usually associated with snoring during sleep and require no treatment. If a 4 yo or a 18 yo with any signs of sleep disturbance, they may need removal. Providing more information when you submit a question allows a more specific answer.

i feel deep in my throat deep down from right tonsil canker sore. it s pain when i swallow hard food from this side. i took arcoxia nsaid before due to back pain.is it related? causes? treatment? need to take vitamins?

: Yes, canker sore (aphthous ulcer) can be an adverse effect of arcoxia (a COX-2 inhibitor). You can use local anesthetic gel (teething gel for kid) before eating for less pain. Vitamins have no role in treatment of canker sore.
