The cause: There are many reasons which can cause a dry cough and one really needs to get examined by a doctor to find out. I would usually start by measuring the lung function to find out whether a patient has asthma then go from there.

Not really: but other treatments for this relatively rare and extremely bothersome disorder are available.  BIOFEEDBACK and ACUPUNCTURE are useful in some patients!

Palliative sedation : Sedation use to relieve refractory symptoms is often indicated in palliative treatment of dying patients. Inoperable malignant intestinal obstruction or advanced malignant cancer is the most common cause of intractable vomiting. Medications such as Midazolam & propofol, +/- haloperidol are often used for this purpose and work by creating a medication induced coma. Life expectancy is 3-4 days.

If you have an active psychiatric disorder like psychosis or conditions like dementia or delirium, an evaluation needs to be done to determine your ability to make decisions.  The court may even get involved depending on the situation.

Eventual grow: Old statement among oncologists.  What happeans if you leave known cancer alone.  Answer-  It grows on you.  There are however various grades of tumor and in the lymphomas there are aggressive lesions that just about respond to chemo immunotherapy where others are chronic lymphomas and remain in-situ growing slowly over years and not requiring therapy until signs of progression noted.
