almost 4 weeks post nissen, at night, i can swallow and hear it gurgle back up. i had this issue much worse and 24/7 refractory reflux prior to nissen. i'm hoping this resolves as i heal, but how can they verify the full wrap worked?

Call doctor: Not all Nissen procedure turns out to be successful. If the problem of reflux has been completely gone, the Nissen has worked. Oftentimes the relief is only partial  The best person to ask is the surgeon who did the surgery.

See a GI doctor soon: If you're having difficulty swallowing, it could be due to severe acid reflux or a condition called eosinophilic esophagitis. An upper endoscopy will help to evaluate the cause and you may need to take an anti-reflux medication.

Yes it can: Try a good anacid...Like zantac (ranitidine) or prilosec.

No need tobe terrifi: Acid reflux is a common condition. Nearly one in 5 of us have this problem yet we have learn to live with it with the help of antacids. There are many antacids that are available, some of them are over the counter..the price varies among them. Try a short course of either Pepcid (famotidine) or Omeprazole(Purple capsule). You need to take it once daily, after evening meals(at bedtime is fine).

No: There is no relation, but if you had intercourse  pregnancy y could be the reason.

Reflux: Absolutely. Reflux means that gastric acid is coming up the esophagus and that can seriously irritate the mucosal lining and cause edema (swelling). You probably should have an EGD (esophagogastroduodenoscopy) where a scope is inserted via the mouth to take a a look/biopsy of the esophagus and stomach..

See a doc: It sounds like a bad case of reflux esophagitis. Untreated one could lead to dysphasia or difficulty to swallow like what you are experiencing. Long term complications of untreated esophagitis can lead to cancer of the eating tube. An gastroenterologist is the one that could help you.

There are: no known long term  bad effects from "swallowing" Cannabis or for that matter eating it but it sound like you need to see and have a frank discussion with you rPrimary Care Provider about your acid reflux and your ANXIETY...which I think may be a lot more significant than your smoking habits!

See an ENT physucian: Go and get a good exam  of your throat area some swelling may be the problem. Let them check everything out.
