hi. when my 20 month baby cries/ screams he holds his head as if he is in pain. is this just an attention thing or should i take him to the doctors?

Attention vs pain?: Toddlers around a year will do a variety of odd behaviors to get your attention, however, if you feel like his head positioning is pain related, you are probably right.  This could be teething, an ear ache, sore throat, or possibly something more serious.  Definitely have him examined to sort it out! Best of luck and thanks for trusting healthtap!

hi, when 3 month baby cries lot, not having feeding for some time, move her mouth away from feeding, can be stomach overfull or gas, if yes maftal spa?

Reflux: Babies who have reflux will cry a lot between feedings, arch back and turn their head to the side, seem to be inconsolable.  They will be very restless when lying on supine (on the back) and seem somewhat better when upright.  They may or may not vomit.  A simple test you can do is to give your baby 5 ml of mylanta or other liquid antacid when crying as if in pain.  If simple reflux, it will ease the crying right away.  Even if it helps, you MUST take your baby to the Pediatrician for an examination. There are other conditions that can cause this behaviour, some serious such as malrotation, milk protein intolerance, pyloric stenosis and milk allergies.

dad grabbed 10 mo old son arm & shook it very hard for 3 seconds  trying to get him to wave. baby started crying. baby whole body was moving, including head but being held while happening. so neck supported head not flopping but moving. sbs from this

Examination : Please take the baby to see his Pediatrician. This type of shaking may be traumatic and further evaluation is suggested.

6 mo baby sleeps fine on my chest but wakes up scratching eyes, ears and head when i put him in his bed. is it allergy or reflex? why does he do this?

Allergic: Sounds like he may be allergic, probably to the clothes you are wearing or something in his bed like furry animal toys.

my baby has a very strong gag reflex. she eats puff without problem and foods thickened with cereal. however, little lumps in her mouth make her vomit?

Discuss with your pe: this should be easily solved since she can eat the other food which also have particles in them. You can try smaller portions and see if you change consistency more liquid or more solid. You need to discuss with your pediatrician

Common patters: A lot of infant viral infections will have fever for a few days and end in a generalized rash. Some have names based on location and type of rash, but they are expected and rather benign.I'd consider the crying evidence it is not finished.As long as the kid takes fluids well and plays occasionally you can monitor at home.If not drinking the kid should be seen.

accidentally stuck nasal aspirator up babies nose further than normal, she moved her head suddenly as i was trying to suck booger out and it went further up her nose. she didnt cry but im scared ive hurt her?

Wouldn't think so: This is not an unusual event or one likely to do harm. The area would bleed with any tissue injury. The nose is pretty plastic at that age. I would try to relax &amp; just give cuddles.

May be thrush: Thrush is a whitish coating inside the mouth (on the tongue, inside cheeks, the gums, etc...) caused by an overgrowth of yeast (candida). Candida is normally in people&#x27;s mouths, but in small amounts so is invisible. Thrush is non-urgent if a baby is behaving fine, but should be evaluated by a primary care doctor who can prescribe medication if needed (if no over-the-counter treatment available).

why do my babies lips look sooo big in the ultrasound at 37 weeks ?

PREGNANCY: The ultrasound reading will tell you if there is any problem with the baby. Sometimes there is some technical errors.

if babies have blisters on the top of their  lip and all on the bottom lipdoes it hurt them?

Accepted Answer

These are usually: " sucking blisters, " & they don't hurt the baby. If they are fluid-filled, a pediatrician needs to evaluate the baby to rule out an infectious disease.
