i take a few medications can it cause throat problems like burning, thin veil of transparent mucus or redness or could it be something else. there is no coughing or hoarseness but mucus in throat makes it burn. tyvm for your time?

: Depending on what medications you are taking, the meds can cause your symptoms. In general, be sure to take your medicines with plenty of liquid so the pills don’t sit at the back of your throat. Esophageal reflux (or GERD) is also a common cause of your symptoms so, if the symptoms persist, see your doctor. You may need to see a GI doctor for diagnosis and treatment. Best of luck to you!

my daughter is experiencing  eye swelling. the following also describe her: eyelid swelling, eyelid redness, and discharge or mucus in eyes. what shou?

Many things!: For a one year old child this could be allergy, viral infection, possibly a bug bite,  bacterial conjunctivitis, are the top four considerations:   Does she have fever? is she well appearing?  What did you do yesterday?  Is it one sided or two?  Is there an actual bite around the eyelid or face that you can see?   We are happy to take a look during a Prime Consult!

Bad cold??: How long have you had these problems?   Sounds like there is a lot draining gown your throat as well. Do you have fever? Body aches!?  Do your upper teeth hurt?  If you have been sick longer than 10-14 days you should see your dr as you might have developed a sinus infection . Use a cool mist humidifier in your bedroom, try not to blow, keep you nose moist with saline spray . Mucinex (guaifenesin) helps too.

i had abnormal paps in the past hpv neg w/ascus+epithelial cell abnormal 2 weeks ago tested + for uti/groupb strep finished nitro mono/mac but still symptoms er doc said cervix was red w/yellow+green discharge could it be hpv? other stis were neg?

: HPV doesn't cause such symptoms. You might need a different antibiotic for the strep ("nitro mono/Mac" isn't clear, but doesn't sound like usual strep treatment). A nonstandard STI might still be present, if at risk for STI (new partner, etc). For example, did they include DNA tests for Mycoplasma genitalium and trichomonas? Keep working with your doctor. would hsv cause ascus, red blood cells, and inflammatory cells present. is that common?  have not been tested for hpv or hsv.... scared, please help!

Check for HPV: Ascus: acronym for atypical cells of undetermined significance and indicates mild cellular cervical changes with an unknown cause. Most common causes of ascus pap smears are minor infection,  cervical inflammation, and hpv infection.  Hsv unlikely. You should have hpv dna test done and check with your doctor on whether they can do it on your same ascus sample. Likely will repeat pap in 6-12 months.

Accepted Answer

Mucus plug: The mucus plug for lack of a more elegant visual looks like a ball of snot with some blood mixed in with it.  A woman can lose the plug before onset of labor or even during labor.

i have bright red mucus discharge coming out. when i wipe and more when i move around what is it?

Discharge: it is not clear to me where this discharge is coming from.  If from your vagina, when is your period, your last no period. Need more information.

Be evaluated: Rectal bleeding needs to be evaluated.  Seek medical care to determine the cause and ensure that you don't have persistent active bleeding.

Irregular periods: Irregular periods are one of the most common problems obgyns treat. If this is one time problem it usually resolves on its own. If this is a recurring problem you should be evaluated. Infections &amp;  hormonal changes can cause spotting. If there is a concern for pregnancy then do  a home pregnancy test .  There are many options available to help regulate the menstrual cycle. Schedule a visit.
