my 22 mo old daughter has dry skin with red bumps on both upper arms.  form of eczema?  what products could i try or do i need an rx?

Hydrate and moisture: Make sure she is well hydrated, water is best. Change to non scented products for laundry and skip the dryer towels. Bathe her with soaps that are not perfumed, such as dove. Apply moisturizer, again unscented while skin is damp after a short bath. Apply moisturizer several times per day. Avoid triggers in food, additives, and pollens. Try several creams and find what is agreeable to her skin.

i have a pimple like rash (not red skin just bumps) under both upper arms, only itches when tshirt brushes up against it and doesn't hurt?

See your doctor: If you've recently changed your underarm deodorant, detergent washing clothes, or have sensitivity to this in your underarms, or upper arms, you need to have your doctor see it, and diagnose it properly, and treat it. It may be something very simple to do. Plus, you want it documented in your chart, or have photos taken. Good thing it doesn't hurt.

Seek help: It is difficult to diagnose this problem as it could be a contact dermatitis withour someone seeing and examining your  skin.  Seek help from your dermatologist.

Keratosis pilaris: This is a sign you are irritating or over drying your skin.  You may need a prescription but most of my pts with this do better if they use gentler products when bathing and a good moisturizer.

KP: Hard to say without seeing them but its likely keratosis pilaris.  Very common. Usually not symptomatic, just annoys the people who have it.

Keratosis pilaris?: Look up keratosis pilaris and see if that is what you are observing on your son.  If not, to diagnose "bumps" they really need to be seen and I would advise you discuss them with your pediatrician who is in a position to do an exam.  KP is nothing to worry about and at his age I would just recommend ample moisturizing.

ARM BUMPS: Difficult to know without seeing these bumps. If they do not itch, it could be a harmless condition called keratosis pilaris. An over-the-counter cream that you can try is amlactin (no financial interest!)  if it doesn't get better, see a dermatologist.

i get red blotchy spots on my chest and upper arms when stressed or upset. i know it is caused mainly by anxiety but is there any remedy for this?

Anxiety & skin rash: Stress and anxiety can trigger or worsen skin conditions such as urticaria (hives). The key is to control your anxiety. Antidepressants can be helpful for preventing acute anxiety attacks. To control your skin rash due to anxiety, you can try cool compresses or take antihistamines. I have found doxepine, an antidepressant with a strong antihistamine effect, to be helpful in stress-induced rash.
