Gerd: Gastroenteritis can be followed by irritable bowel syndrome which may or may not eventually resolve. It shouldn't  cause new onset of chronic gerd as the latter is due to structural or functional abnormality of the valve between the esophagus and stomach. You may have some temporary  reflux during the acute phase of gastritis however.

if i had acute pancreatitis without pain (just high blood levels of lipase and amylase) due to gastroenteritis and covid, do i have to worry about recurrent acute pancreatitis or chronic pancreatitis or no because my bout was caused by an infection?

: Prob need to worry and be certain you avoid all meds know to aggravate pancreatitis if your Dr concurs. Go to drugs.com and read about all meds/supplements you taste.

: Amylase and lipase are elevated (not strikingly high) in most acute inflammation of the GI tract. These "normal" findings do not put you at risk for acute or chronic pancreatitis. Yes, you can drink when your acute GI illness is over. However, you should know that alcohol intake is a risk factor for pancreatic diseases so you should avoid alcohol if you are so concerned about your overall health.

whipple 8/15. severe upper left abd pain, recurrent fever (103), & acute pancreatitis in past 3 weeks. ct says multiple non dilated small bowel loops in abd & pelvis - says gastroenteritis. other possibilities? drs gave no answer for recurrent fever.

Fever: The intestinal loop pattern is nonspecific, in my opinion. I would be concerned about an intraabdominal abscess formation. I recommend that an abdominal surgeon be conducting your care with close collaboration of a gastroenterologist and a radiologist who can suggest other imaging studies likely to shed light on your case. An exploratory operation may be required,however if antibiotics don't help.
