: Often is from post nasal drip which is worse reclining. In addition, fluid stagnates when someone is not moving  which allows them to collect

Check for weakness: This person may be getting weaker. It could be missed stroke, worsening of memory loss, or bad arthritis. I would consider a physical/occupitonal therapy to see if there may be the right eqiupment for this person to  sit so that it can be prevented from falling, sliding or loss of balance.

with gerd, should you avoid leaning back in a recliner after you eat?

Head above stomach : In most cases keeping the head higher than the stomach will assist in reflux. Reclining is fine, in fact, I recommend my patients use a pillow wedge at night to prevent overnight positional reflux with supine position, or lift the back legs of the bed with a brick to provide gentle slope. The question of how much to recline is 30 to 45  degrees.  Hope that helps

Try before you buy: It depends on what is causing your back pain. Different back pain responds to different treatment. You need to "test drive' a friend's lazy boy and see if it helps or hurts. You might also consider trying out an inversion table to see if that helps. In other cases, trampolines are the ticket.

It is possible: Certainly this is not the out come one is looking for but unfortunately any and all surgical interventions carry some sig risk of things not going the way we want them to go 

it would be most appropriate for you to discuss this with your surgeon in detail and to sensibly continue on with your rehab.

Ribs: Looks like a normal variation in the anatomy. It won't hurt to get it checked out with your doctor.

Several things: With these kinds of symptoms and their persistent nature, it's best if you see your doctor.  He/she will listen to you, do an examination, possibly run some tests and let you know what's going on.

Prob unrelated.: I greatly doubt that the itchy hives are from the recliner unless you have recently applied a solution, to which your husband may have become allergic,  on the recliner.  Try antihistamine first.  If the problem continues, consult a derm/allergist. If you had indeed applied a new solvent to the recliner within days prior to the onset, remove it with a dishwater detergent

i was putting down the foot of my recliner and felt a pop about 2 inches directly below my bellybutton, followed by pain. what could it be? should i be worried?

: I wish you do not have a muscle tear. As of this time, just apply cold pack to that area every 4-6 hours for pain and possible swelling in the next 24 hours then as needed. If pain gets worse and your lower body motion is severely limited, you you go to an urgent care.

25 lb dog jumped.off recliner onto my 11y/0 daughters stomache... should i be concerned about internal bleeding if it still kinda hurts? she was laying on floor.help?

Accepted Answer

: If she can get up and walk around with minimal if any pain I would not be concerned about internal bleeding. If she can't get up and walk across the room I would have her evaluated.
