Hard bristle brush?: Two main reason for gum recession.  If gum recession is localized to the facial surface, it is usually improper brushing (wrong technique or wrong tooth brush).  Your tooth brush should be soft bristle, not hard, not medium, just soft.  Brush parallel to gum line in short, horizontal or elliptical stroke. Secondly, check with your dentist for gum disease causing bone loss and gum recession.
