hello! how common is hiv transmission from female to male? i read 1 in 2500 is that rare or low risk? ive tested negative with rapid test at three months and the a lab 4th generation test at 6 months both negative?

: ~20 years ago, CDC estimated one HIV transmission per 2,500 episodes of unprotected vaginal sex with infected women. If there's a 1% chance the woman has HIV, the risk is 1 in 250,000. Actual risk can be a lot higher or lower depending on duration of her infection, HIV treatment, other STI. Regardless of the risk when you had sex, your test results are 100% conclusive.

Nearly conclusive: The combo test is nearly conclusive (98-99%) at 4 weeks, but definitely by 6 weeks. There is no need to wait 3 months.

Hiv: The HIV elisa test will come negative until the first six months aftet unprotected sex with a known HIV person.   During this first six months,  hiv-pcr test will be more reliable and accurate.   Good luck !

Depends on type of: test. If you had HIV nucleic acid test and it was negative 3 months after potential exposure you would have no need to be worried. If these were antibody tests, you should repeat the test at six months after exposure.

: It depends on what you mean by "rare". If a woman has HIV, the average transmission risk to her male partner is around once for every 2,500 episodes of unprotected vaginal sex. Therefore, most HIV infected males in the US caught it sexually from other men, or from shared drug injection equipment. The standard HIV blood tests are 100% conclusive by 3 months -- in fact, usually within 6 weeks.

i'm so scared that i can get hiv (maybe rare types and subtypes of hiv or being hiv-seronegative) despite all tests were negative (16week from exposure). are there any conclusive tests for me? how can i get out of this situation? please help?

: There are no "rare types or subtypes of HIV" not detected by standard tests. But clearly you are obsessed, and obsessions do not respond to factual information. You probably will need professional counseling to determine why you are  obsessed with this despite the overwhelming scientific evidence that there is no chance you have HIV, probably from your own doctors as well as HealthTap. Yes: Yes. However, if a person (unwisely or unfortunately, depending on his or her life's circumstances) has recurring possible HIV exposures, he may get a screening test every 3 months. The is for people who have REAL recurring possible HIV exposures, but NOT for people who don't have recurring exposures but can't stop worrying about a past possible HIV exposure, which would be a treatable OCD issue.
