ALLERGIC REACTION: you may be having an allergic reaction to the Azithromycin. You need to be examined promptly and have labs checked (Especially Eosinophil level) I normally would treat with a prednisone taper over 8 days. If symptoms worsen and you have difficulty breathing go to nearest ER.

See below: Zantac (ranitidine) is not effective for prevention of allergy symptoms. It blocks the h2 histamine receptor instead of the h1. I have seen use of both an h! and an h2 blocker for the treatment of chronic hives.

Not exactly: Zantac (ranitidine) is an h2 (histamine) blocker that is typically used for ge (acid) reflux.  However, it is commonly used to treat chronic hives in combination with traditional antihistamines.  It is also used for additional treatment of severe (anaphylaxis) allergic reactions although first line treatment is Epinephrine and h1 antihistamine.  It will not help allergic rhinitis.

my 13 week old is on 0.6mls ranitidine for reflux now my doctor think he has a cows milk allergy. he is fussy, wont nap and doesn't sleep through night?

Try to stop milk: Milk allergy can give him all the symptoms you describe.  Ranitidine is a histamine-2 blocker and anything that causes increased histamine in the stomach will increase acid secretion in the stomach and increase reflux.  You can try switching  him to a soy based formula as a first step. But some kids will also develop soy allergy.  If this continue to affect him, have him evaluated by an allergist.

i had an allergy to doxycycline 4 weeks ago i can't take benedryl and i took prednisone for 12 days and i still itch, i have been taking ranitidine?

Cause?: I doubt that the allergy to doxycycline can linger on this long and thus your itching must be from something else. In the absence of skin rash, dry skin is the most common cause for itching.  Have you tried applying a moisturizer on your body 2x daily with one &lt;3 mins after bathing?

can i give my 15 month old peptobismol? she keeps throwing up with no signs of fever or illness.  we have checked food allergies, ans gerd (taking zantac (ranitidine) 2x daily). i cannot figure out what's wrong :-(

I wouldn't: Pepto has salycilates which we don't give tom kids under 16 because of an association with liver failure/death (Reye syndrome).Wet burps that do not result in problems with hydration often decrease with age as the reflux improves.If the kid is growing well. I would leave it alone.

is it bad to take otc allergy medication to help fall asleep once in a while?

Try Melatonin: If you use Benedryl or some other OTC allergy medication to fall asleep once in awhile it won't hurt you.  However, its not a perfect solution.  These medications change your sleep architecture.  You don't get the right balance of each stage of sleep to feel rested.  You may feel hung-over in the morning.  A better solution would be Melatonin.  You can buy it a healthfood store.  Sulingual is best

Not a common cause: Other than steroids, I am not aware of any common allergy drugs that are associated with the development of gynecomastia.
