Bone scan: I assume this is a bone scan.  Increased uptake means a site of  abnormal increased bone metabolic activity, which is usually a response to trauma, infection, inflammation, or neoplasm.  When multiple foci line up along successive ribs, it is almost invariably due to trauma.  If it is along the anterior margins of the ribs, it could also be costcochondritis.

The "problem": with bone scans is that they are NON-SPECIFIC, that is they do not make a diagnosis only indicate that bone pathology exists...this can vary froma recent FRACTURE to simple degenerative changes! I am sorry but I doubt that these results will help much in  determining where your pain is coming from,

The bone scan: is "active" with ANY INFLAMMATORY process including degenerative arthritis which may be the reason in your case! IT'S A NON-SPECIFIC FINDING!!!!!!!!!!

If I understand the : Question correctly, the left kidney renogram shows decreased uptake of tracer, which means decreased kidney function.  The negligible wash out means little urine production, or possibly a blockage of the upper ureter.  Please discuss with your doctor, as this appearance needs to be correlated with your medical condition and the reason your doctor ordered the test.

See answer: The kidneys and bladder are normally visualized with a routine bone scan. Decrease visualization and activity generally reflects decreased renal function and an increase in activity commonly represents either obstruction or delayed excretion. You should discuss with the doctor who ordered the test whether he feels finding has any clinical significance. Most likely not?

It could be: a mass or other  inflammatory problem that is now bleeding. I would seek  the attention of your primary care physician

: Other things can be seen such as the aorta but since the ultrasound is calibrated for the kidneys,ureters and bladder other findings or lack or other findings are not reliable.

: Most of the time, you would not need any fasting or special preparation prior to either of those tests, but if the Doctor Who is ordering the tests requests you to prepare yourself in a certain way, you should follow through with that. The doctor should explain in detail how to prepare for it. If not, you should call them. Good luck.

Sort of: The polypoid lesions in the urinary system are generally transitional cell papillary lesions. These lesions range from pre-cancerous to cancerous. It would need a biopsy to answer the question.

Accepted Answer

Yes.: Though rare, it is possible for kidney stones to become retained in the bladder and become larger, hard, bladder stones. Stones that can pass through a ureter can generally pass through the bladder outlet, but certain conditions, such as prostate enlargement or a neurogenic bladder, can predispose someone to forming bladder stones.
