Many ways: Radiation is a highly effective treatment option for prostate cancer.  There are many options which include: external beam radiation therapy with either photons or protons, brachytherapy with either low dose rate seeds or high dose rate brachytherapy, or stereotactic body radiation.  You should see a radiation oncologist in consultation to have a discussion about these different options.

Fairly effective: Best used in the neoadjuvant setting to reduce the size of a rectosigmoid lesion to improve operability.  In terms of long term survival this has not been achieved without the addition or RT. Better results can be anticipated when RT is combined with immunochemotherapy.  It is also used palliatively if a large metastatic disease is present in the pelvis and the primary has already been resected.

Cloves smell good: But to me, the anti-cancer therapies smell foul.  Eugnol may have some effect against colon cancer cell lines, it is a phenol-like compound, and i cannot see a radio=protectctant or sensitizing property.  I know of no good use other than advanced h&n neck cancers do smell bad, and this might help that.

Most are: Treated with chemo+rt.  Dry mouth, loss of taste, sore swallowing, weight loss...We usually suggest a feeding tube to support.  Recovery of these is variable, and gradual at best.  Oral hygiene (salt/soda rinses) to rid the mouth of gooey, wall paper paste consistency saliva helps.
