Uncommon but it is w: It is a well known complication of radiation therapy.Radiotherapy induced second cancers have been known to occur in a small minority of treated patients especially when radiotherapy is used in younger aged people/children.

Depends...: Radiotherapy does come with an increased risk of cancer. Children are particularly sensitive to radiation. Radiation to the head/neck region is a risk factor for thyroid cancer. The amount, frequency, and type of radiation that you receive are all factors in the development of cancer.
