should i be worried if only one of my liver enzyme tests came back elevated? they never told me which one just to quit drinking and retest in a month?

Liver: Yes. All elevated liver enzymes can mean danger.  There is no medication to improve the liver. It has to heal on it's own. Thus when there is liver inflammation one must cut out the toxic things that are possible reasons for the liver trouble. It is not to be ignored.

Not really: Generally speaking there are no signs of elevated liver enzymes until you reach a state of severe disease. At this time you may experience some abdominal discomfort and yellowing of the skin. However, if you have had elevated liver enzymes from drinking alcohol, you should avoid further consumption.

Minimal: You should consider an alternate or non-alcoholic beverage.  There is no hard-fast number as every persons metabolism is different and there are other factors to consider such as weight and medications and what period of time. Alcohol is a toxin the liver must process to rid your body of it.

Liver enzymes: If your liver enzymes were elevated from drinking alcohol and all other causes were looked and eliminated, then you dont have to worry.Dont drink alcohol and recheck your liver enzymes in three months

Temporarily yes: But you are likely to get a damaged liver if you start drinking again.

Is this wise?: Most people who drink heavily enough to make themselves sick have lost self-control and are wisest not to touch the stuff again. The word 'alcoholic' carries a connotation that it's hard for the person to stop. Why play with fire? If in fact you just binge-drank and are over that stage in your life, your liver will be okay but get checked every so often. And think about being 'high on life.'

Liver Is In Trouble: You may see significant improvement with time and abstinence.  Milk thistle is an herb that is used world wide for this problem. Yes, even one drink can prolong healing when or if your liver is still inflamed. It must heal fully before retesting anything toxic to it.

NASH: There are many reasons for why your liver enzymes are elevated.  Most often if you are healthy and don't take any medications your abnormality can be related to "fatty liver".  An ultrasound of your liver can easily shed some light on this issue.

Alcohol: Lifting weights may raise creatine kinase, not a liver enzyme. Alcohol at the amount you describe would not raise liver enzymes too much, in a male.  There is likely to be small increase in alt and ggt.
