Expect to be asked about family psychiatric history, substance use/ abuse, current symptoms, your sleep/ appetite/ energy level/ self esteem/ feelings of guilt/ ability to experience pleasure/ comfort with making decisions/ impairment in daily living and if you have thoughts of harm to self or others.  Don't worry. This is a good step in improving your quality of life.

can we treat a major depression without seeing a therapist or psychiatrist or doctor ? if can how ? if not why ?

Depends: One of the important steps in treating depression is to identify what is causing the depression.  The next step is to find an effective method to eliminate the cause and at the same time stop the habit of depressive thoughts and beliefs.  This has been done without professional help, but your best chance of accomplishing these goals is with a mental health professional.

can a pain mngmt doc threaten to drop care if you refuse repeat ablation that havent helped or symptoms havent returned? then claim its because patient has depression & demand they get a psychiatrist or threat of dismissal. pcm rx depression meds?

: Dropping care requires a valid reason and time for you to find alternative care and has to be in writing. If unhappy you should get another opinion or another doc

Get into therapy.: Some people think they have a disease, b/c they believe that they will get more attention and care from their drs, relatives or other people around them. This need can so strong, it may cause you to want to be ill. Therapy can help you to understanding the underlying reasons for these feelings. U can get your needs met in healthier ways.

my primary doctor prescribed me a psychiatrist for a diagnosis of postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome.  i am not anxious/stressed/depressed etc.  who else should i have on my care team to help me manage the symptoms that accompany pots?

Cardiologist: First would be cardiologist to help make sure diagnosis is correct (assume you had cardiac testing including tilt table, holter study, ECG, echocardiogram, stress test, blood tests?)

on 100 mg sertraline for anxiety/depression morning 30 mg amitriptaline night for nerve pain i am struggling with nerve pain which makes me so low ?

Nerve pain: Visit your PCP to refer you to a Neurologist to evaluate the pain &amp; adjust your medication if needed.

can venlafaxine be used for nerve pain aswell as depression ?

Of course: Venlafaxine is the only antidepressant besides the TCAs that may be effective in some continuous neuropathic pain disorders especially when mild depression accompanies the disorder.

i've been taking 3 weeks 25 mg elavil for nerve pain & it helps wonderfully. however, my mind isn't like it use to be. i feel blah.. i wasn't depressed before taking it, but since taking it, my mind isn't at peace like before. can elavil cause this?

Depression: Please start w/a visit to your family doc.  He/she can rule out or identify and medical issues going on.  Then see a clinical psychologist.  One possibility is as treatment called cognitive psychology.  Peace and good health.
